pabletesoy Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) I don't know if the failure is the damage modeling of the weapons or the objects, or both, but either I'm doing something very wrong or this is really bad. Is this ever going to get the attention it really deserves? Greetings! Edited November 4, 2022 by pabletesoy 2 1
draconus Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I get you but if you really want to report it, you should be very specific about weapon, unit, distance and upload a short track showing the issue. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
pabletesoy Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 Oook! I will make a more deep test. Thanks!
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 28, 2022 ED Team Posted September 28, 2022 please include a short as possible track replay example Please note: Unit damage model has an alive / burning / and dead state there is no in-between. To see if a unit has been damaged you need to check the F10 map and the unit health bar, this is the only place you will see what damage has been done. Better unit damage models are planned for the future, it is a massive task and will take a long time. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? pabletesoy Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) It is good to hear that they are planning to improve the DM, it is a huge task and it will get bigger and bigger as they continue to add new units with the current weapons system. We have aircraft with an incredible level of simulation but the fundamental task (destroy) is far below the DCS standard. Cheer up! By the way, people don't die because they are cheefs. When I change them for soldiers they don't survive. Edited September 28, 2022 by pabletesoy
pabletesoy Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) Here is a typical example.Min 9:00, I launch a couple of RBK-500s, they don't hit the targets but they are very very close. No vehicles are damaged. tst_CBU.acmi Edited September 28, 2022 by pabletesoy

No vehicles are damaged. Afaik RBK-500 uses EFPs so they need direct hits. You were supposed to upload the track file (trk from DCS), not acmi. pabletesoy Posted October 31, 2022 Author Posted October 31, 2022 Hello, I have threw 4 Fab 500 and they hit next to the target, but since they didn't hit it exactly in it, nothing has happened (some soldiers died). I attached Track file and tackview file. It,s next to the 13 minute 13 Sorry for my english bombamal.trk Tacview-20221031-132939-DCS-Su25T_FRANCE4.zip.acmi
Hobel Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Try them in their test of other vehicles. the AAV7 seems to me quite tanky and is therefore not so representative. take therefore rather a BMP2/BTR80 or similar as "APC" equivalent I will also have a closer look at this.
pabletesoy Posted October 31, 2022 Author Posted October 31, 2022 I have done some test with BMP2/BTR80. With BMP2 I have hardly seen any blast damage, only in the "last attack. If I have seen more times damage by blast wave with BTR80. test1.trk 1
pabletesoy Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 So Hobel...I woluld like to know your opinion about the "Splash_Damge_script", do you know it?
Hobel Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) @pabletesoy For me this looks okay for now in this scenario if shrapnel is modeled in the future, it might do a more damage, but that's what we currently have. waht is see in you track: 500kg bomb If there is time, you can test the whole thing again on sand or other surfaces, if the results are different there, it would be worth a look. for comparison for my observation a BMP2 or BTR would have good chances where the black car stands Edited November 2, 2022 by Hobel
pabletesoy Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 Thanks, I will try to continue making tests. Are there concrete plans to model shrapnel? Bignewy has comented in this threath thar "Better unit damage models are planned for the future" but are those things something that will be started in the short term or there is nothing known yet? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help! Google this : [PDF] EXPLOSIVE WEAPON EFFECTS First link. The Shrapnel of a MK82 (500Ibs) can penetrate 32mm steel at 16m according to this document. The btr in the picture above have ~9nm armour and stand about ~15-18m away. However, that was an 1100Ibs bomb. Edited December 5, 2022 by Hobel
