Lace Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Not just a brief, half second glimpse, but where the aircraft has at least a supporting role in the plot of the movie. Not even going to mention the really obvious Tomcat one(s), but we have: Iron Viper, featuring the Eag... I mean Iron Eagle featuring the Viper Chevalier du Ciel - starring the Mirage 2000 Apocalypse now/Platoon/Air America/pretty much any Vietnam film - Huey Firebirds/Wings of the Apache Charlie Wilsons War/Rambo III/9th Company - Hind/Hip True Lies - AV-8B Flight of the Intruder - Skyraider and A-6 Thirteen Days - A-7 Plenty of WWII offerings, BoB, 633 Sqn, etc. There must be some good ones I've missed, what else is there? I need something to watch. Laptop Pilot. Ala13_ManOWar Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) Yeah, you definitely forgot the most obvious reason many Generation X people are fans of the Tomcat till today . Somewhere there is a web where people identified aircraft (correct model for the story/real event, or not), it was interesting but I wouldn't recall the address nor I have it saved anywhere. Would be a nice place to check. Edited October 12, 2022 by Ala13_ManOWar "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. It's not fully fleshed out, last time I checked (time ago) they still gathered people's help to identify/add more models and things related to aviation here and there, not necessarily when a plane is a "main character" in the movie, even just when whatever even remotely aviation related thing appears in an absolutely non related to aviation film just by chance. But of course one can check well known films about what the list of aircraft stars are, sometimes even serial numbers, where came from/where are those aircraft now, and so on. It's a nice database. Not only is this more accurate for the role and the year (the A-7 hasn't been around yet in 1962), it is also nice to see the tilting wing mechanic, which the A-7 didn't have anymore. 17 hours ago, Lace said: Charlie Wilsons War/Rambo III/9th Company - Hind/Hip It's been a while, actually, since I've seen Rambo 3, but does that really feature one of these? In my recollection at least it was more of a Puma with added wings that everyone pretends to be a Hind. What always makes me laugh about this is the movie 'Behind Enemy Lines' (2001) which features an actual Mi-17 that, for some bizarre reason, stands in for a Puma... (probably fits in with the somewhat misplaced F/A-18F in this) Furthermore of course there is 'Blue Thunder' which features a Gazelle (although somewhat disguised), Hornets like to get small cameos in a lot of movies, for example in 'Clear and Present Danger' (1994) and 'Tears of the Sun' (2003), if I remember correctly a MiG-15 features prominently enough but shortly in 'Spacewalk' (2017), and lastly, lets not forget the 2000 classic 'Battlefield Earth' for its use of the AV-8B.

Supposedly, they were really nasty in flight because of those mods, but they sure did look the part. I think that's the only time Hind A had a prominent role anywhere, even if it was played by a Puma.
Kang Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I think the exact same one actually saw use in 'Red Dawn' (1984). I probably found it better looking in that because a) it didn't have as many slow-mo closeups and b) that movie made overall a much better effort of producing mock-up Soviet vehicles.
MAXsenna Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 The kind is featured quite extensively in the last Die Hard movie. Shirty movie though. It's not here yet, but the Bo-105 is in the opening sequence of one of the latest James Bond movies. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
