[FIXED WING] NORTHROP P-61B-15 "BLACKWIDOW"

I'd like to offer my suggesstion for the Normandy Map. That being the P-61 Blackwidow. Specifically the P-61B-15 variant which was the most produced model. I think this plane would be an instant hit with everyone who flys WWII aircraft.

Interesting aircraft…

… but I think night Ops are pretty much “special interest” in DCS at the moment.  
I’ve tried using the Anton as a wilde sau nightfighter - which works quite well, although takeoff and landing without runway lights is difficult

Rather than a P-61, IMO, a better approach would be to adapt the existing Mosquito and Ju-88 models to nightfighter versions (although FF fast Bomber versions of both would be even better)

A P-61C would probably fit better with all the late model German aircraft, but we have two Fw-190's so why not multiple versions of this.

DCS WW2 nightfighting is not a thing - currently. And that's partly down to a lack of period radar modelling and the simulation of a GCI  for that era.

DCS WW2 is incomplete even for daylight ops; there's a host of "day" aircraft that should be available for the late 1943-45 era that we don't yet have. The P-61 would be a white elephant in every respect. I wouldn't support the diversion of developer resources until the "day ops" are better fleshed out and a true WW2 era GCI becomes available.

Personally, I would love a DCS Night Fighter environment, with Lancasters, Halifaxes, Mosquito NFXII or XIIIs, Bf 110G-4, Ju 88G, Do 217, even a He 177 and then a P-61.

Even then the P-61 wasn't operationally relevant to the autumn of 1944 and we don't have maps to support it's operations realistically.

The Fw-190A-8/R4 would be nice to have.

it's a yes from me, i'd love to see a P-61 in DCS, ww2 (and all the other eras tbh) really needs more aircraft role variety and i feel like the P-61 could do a very good job at introducing the night fighter role into the game, would probably need some axis night fighter to act kind of as a counterpart too

Currently there is no night fighting environment or assets/technology to support it or any other WW2 era dedicated night fighter.

Let’s get the WW2 day ops environment better completed before looking into night fighter operations.

better yet work on both

I'd love to have some WWII night fighters. I have asked for a night fighter version of the Mosquito. The black Widow would be nice, I just expect that the Mosquito would be completed sooner because of the existing module. I could be wrong, but frankly I'd hope to see two different developers work on both aircraft and prove me right or wrong.
