Snacko Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I've been having problems since the last update or around that time with taking Screenshots with an app that I use called ShareX. I noticed about a week or so ago that it had stopped taking Screenshots with Ctrl+PrintScreen (on my Logitech keyboard) in DCS. ShareX worked fine in other games, but no more in DCS. DCS DOES take a screenshot since it recognizes the PrintScreen key (SysRQ). But it should first look at the key 'combination'. If it sees a Key Combination pressed, and it doesn't match any game commands, it should pass it through to the OS, right? That's what it does with my TrackIR Center command. I have that assigned to Scroll Lock, and that key is not used in the game, so it passes it through/doesn't capture it and stop. I can reproduce this issue anytime I press Ctrl+PrintScreen. I first noticed this in the Hornet and was about to post this in that forum.. But upon testing other aircraft (MC2000; F14; A10c II), I realized it was not specific to an aircraft. A track/video wouldn't show anything except a momentary pause as DCS took it's screenshot. This appears to be an issue only with the Screenshot key command. ** I noticed that in the Hornet, the SysRQ key assignment is MISSING from it's Screenshot command. And it's disabled so we cannot assign it. HOWEVER, it does take a screenshot. Makes me wonder if work was done on this command recently? silverdevil Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 @Snacko this usually is when the full screen app takes control of key combinations. meaning if DCS has a combination thats doing something else instead of the other app. for example i had to change the capture screenshot and capture video macros in geforce experience to something not used in DCS. first i suggest to do is to look in DCS for a new combination that showed up in the latest update. something else to check is see if the macro changed in ShareX. i have a logitech g910 keyboard which has macro keys on the side and part of the top. one key does the entire macro. pro tip is to go into your controls config and save as HTML. then search the produced documents. Snacko Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 Thanks for the reply. But yes, I looked for any key command combination in DCS; General; UI Layer; and the aircraft's commands. I also selected the Keyboard column and pressed Ctrl+PrintScreen/SysRQ, which should jump me straight to the DCS command using that combo.. There is nothing assigned to that combo. And I do not have the FullScreen option selected in the Options. And I just did the Make HTML as you suggested, and that key combo is not used in any of the categories I listed above. Snacko Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 Yes, I changed it to Ctrl+CapsLock, and that works fine, but it doesn't work in DCS. Strange how my Scroll Lock works in DCS. But this doesn't.. Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
wakevortex Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Just come up against the same issue but using VoiceAttack... I used to be able to pass the global command Ctrl M to mute Skype when I was talking to VA in DCS so my friends didnt hear it on skype. It now does NOT pass that command through DCS when its in Focus... Every other program has no problem. Definately they changed this in DCS ..but WHY?... seems crazy .. Cant see a way round it to be honest !
Flappie Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Ensure your aircraft does not have any command assigned to the Ctrl + M combo. Also check "UI layer", "NS430" (if you have it installed) and "Radio VoIP" commands categories. ---
wakevortex Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Thanks for the reply..sadly I had already checked every category and deleted any CTRL M.. nothing there now but same issue. This certainly didnt used to happen..its a change for sure in DCS..(and it only happens in DCS) any other ideas? - much appreciated
Flappie Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I've just made the test with Skype and I confirm that LCtrl+M does not work. Same thing for Discord shortcuts (I've never tried them before). However, if I assign LCtrl+M as my Discord push-button, it works fine in DCS. ---
wakevortex Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Interesting info ! ...skype is supposed to use "global hotkeys" Skype uses global hotkeys, which do not require the application('s window) to have focus (and are enabled by default). and of course they have REMOVED the ability to change those commands by the user..so mute is stuck at Left Ctrl M very odd that for me it seems that ONLY when DCS is running, skype ignore these global hotkeys. That certainly did NOT used to be the case...so something has clearly changed even stranger that Discord shortcuts dont work but Ctrl M does in your case...now thats weird ! 1
