miguez Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 It looks like I could add the keyboard shortcuts to all the tooltips in the cockpit, like the following picture. I am wondering if anyone would be interested...? Best regards, 2
Airway Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 As everybody has different priorities in setting up the key commands (I personally use 4 different kinds of controllers), it will be very time consuming to edit it for every personal user. And when you have your mouse hovered over the desired button, why not just click it instead of reading out the key command and press it on your controller?
ThunderChief Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I think this is realy useful. It helps alot to learn the keyboard shortcuts. Would be cool if you would share this.
Kwill Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I agree with Airway, once you have your mouse over the button why not just click it.
TX-EcoDragon Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I love these clickable cockpits. . .I don't use a single key command on my keyboard, other than "Page Up and Page Down" and "Rctrl C" - and I'd rather not have to do that! The reason LockOn was never anything more than a way to fly some formation aerobatics was the lack of clickable cockpits - if I never see something like "LWin + LAlt+RCtrl+Z+backflip+handspring+dropkick+Esc" again it will be too soon! :) That said, I'm sure there will be a market for such a tweak. Sunjah Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 It looks like I could add the keyboard shortcuts to all the tooltips in the cockpit, like the following picture. I am wondering if anyone would be interested...? Best regards, Absolutely!!! I think it would be a great idea. Then after having a base file, people can go in and edit commands they have on their joystick. I have a Logitech ExtremePro3D right now (the Saitek X-52 pro is on its way!), and I have 27 mapped commands. I could use this tool-tip file for all others, and rewrite the 27 tooltips needed myself. Very kind offer of you, and I for one would definitely think it is great. Sometimes you need to know... Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

Feuerfalke Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I'd like that, too. Mostly you study the manual and key-list to program your HOTAS, but in this simulation I got used to flipping switches, but some still have to be implemented on my HOTAS, because you simply learn that you push some buttons more often than others. I'm just to lazy to search the functions, so yes, that would be very supportive, maybe not for standard-playing, but very much for learning and optimizing programmed input-devices! 1 MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
Gael Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I would love it! In fact, I asked for it at DCS Wish List thread! :smilewink: For those who say your mouse is over the switch, yes, it's obvious, but next time you want to use it you could remember the shortcut. I remember the Ctrl+Z shortcut because I've seen it many times next to "Undo", that's the way it works. Perhaps next time you want to turn a switch on you cannot move your POV to the cockpit or your right hand to the mouse. If you add keyboard shortcuts to the tooltips, could you enclose them in brackets? Battery 2 [LCtrl+LAlt+LShift+W]
aledmb Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 this was being discussed in another thread, and you were there, right? there we were talking about the tiny font size on large screens. i agree with enclosing the shortcuts in brackets. it would make it more readable. and i think it's a good idea. those who like to click the switches will continue clicking them. those who want to learn shortcuts, can learn directly in the cockpit. will you share it? thanks in advance!

Stingray Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 awesome idea, I would want this if it was available, keyboard shortcut on the tool tip
Boberro Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Yes IMO good solution, as it was mentioned many folks learn keyboard shortcuts ;] Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Axel40 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 YES!! First thing I noticed when I started BS for the first time. Went to click some keys, found only the tool tip and not the key press. It was disappointing. This would be great
DTWD Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I think an extension of this designed for people learning the correct startup/shutdown procedure would be cool. So you installed a special tool tip that said something like this: Battery 1 (SU: 1 SD: 27) Battery 2 (SU: 2 SD: 26) Those numbers are plucked from the etha as I have yet to learn the correct, and or any, startup procedure. SU = Start up SD = Shut down The number indicate the order in which you SHOULD do them. It would help for people reeding a list and counting the numbers in there head, if they are out of sync they know they have done something wrong. Well just an idea anyway. Still I think I would be interested in this as is. As I am flying I might require the need to do something, I can find the switch in cockpit but if I want to bind it to my joystick I need to exit the mission, go to the options, trawl through the controls to find the key combination, alt tab to my saitek software and enter it in, then re-launch the mission. It would be easier to miss out a whole load of that with these tool tips. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Timm Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Hi Guys, Great post subject. What I found and this is probably me but when I place my mouse over the switch I get the tool tip which is great in finding the correct one,but as an added bonus and it would help me if it also stated lets say "Battery 2 On or Off. This I found very useful when I fly in MS FS9. Timm “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes to us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. Mabye then edit that with start-up/down procedures. Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

Once you know the procedure you switch to the normal modified one. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
miguez Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 OK guys, Working on it, expect something later on today.
KrUEgER888 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 nice work I dont drive fast, I just fly low:pilotfly:
