jimmywa3 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I think it is wrong, if I approach with a .45 angle of attack according to the manual, I am way too fast. 2

What was your landing weight? You probably were too heavy. Being at the correct AoA puts you at the correct landing speed according to your total weight.
jimmywa3 Posted October 29, 2022 Author Posted October 29, 2022 Tusky, don't really know what my weight was, but no weapons or pylon fuel tanks. Thanks for the info...will pay more attention to the weight thing. 1
IvanK Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 (edited) It is grossly Wrong. Detail bug report in Closed Beta section. At present the AOA gauge is not useful. Approach speeds of a Clean MB339 with Elliptical Tip tanks versus Fuel Remaining and using the 115Kias basic Vref at 3700Kg then applying the 1.5Kts per 100Kg are below Fuel Rem Vref 500Kg 115 600Kg 116.5 700Kg 118 800Kg 119.5 900Kg 121 1000Kg 122.5 1100Kg 124 (Tips empty just full Fus fuel) Edited November 1, 2022 by IvanK 2

Had 200 kg fuel remaining, only tip tanks installed and regarding the AoA indicator needed 135 kts or something to stay at .45 AoA. Let's see, how this will improve. 1
jimmywa3 Posted November 17, 2022 Author Posted November 17, 2022 Curious as why their MSFS version is spot on as far as the AOA indicator goes, and they couldn't get it correct with DCS, yet

One of the best ones in the sim. I'm assuming airspeed is the accurate indicator. Do you guys recommend just disregarding AOA for now and flying reference airspeeds? 1
gulredrel Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Currently I'm not looking at the AoA gauge. Roughly reference speed, depending on weight, use about 140 to stabilize approach, keep RW threshold around the center gunsight glass. Check vertical speed gauge to get roughly 700 fpm and for touchdown attitude and flaring bottom of gunsight glass at the end of the runway / horizon. Try some touch and goes and keep an eye on vertical speed if you have too much fuel. I find this relatively easy to land with these reference points. 1
