104th_Crunch Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) Will this part of the ICP remain unused, (exception of the A-G button) or will there be functionality for it in the future in DCS? I am guessing it was used on legacy versions of the Viper only perhaps. Thanks Edited November 15, 2022 by 104th_Crunch

Thanks If i'm not mistaken, those buttons are used with the Lantirn/FLIR system used on Block 40/42's Older Vipers don't have an ICP as we do have now. 104th_Crunch Posted November 15, 2022 Author Posted November 15, 2022 Yes, I believe you are correct. FLIR for LANTIRN as shown below. I believe the Viper you show is an A/B model with no LANTIRN. I will assume that there will be no upcoming functionality with the ICP controls, but you know what they say about assuming? Was just curious.

I believe the Viper you show is an A/B model with no LANTIRN. It's an early F16 A/B model. All F16's started with basicly this cockpit, until later Blocks and upgrades like MLU. None of these older Vipers were equiped with LANTIRN The place where now the left MFD is actually your SMS page. It has small push buttons with small light bulbs in it. I remember replacing these small light bulbs The greenish screen between the guys knees, is the radar scope. Aquorys Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 There are a couple switches, buttons, etc. that don't do anything in various variants of the real world F-16. They just didn't customize the panels that much for each variant. F-16 / Su-33 / Ka-50 F-16 Checklists (Kneeboard compatible) F-16 BVR training missions

I don't think the HUD on the Block 50 supports FLIR image projection, leaving the FLIR controls on the ICP with no function on the real aircraft. 1 Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. They are Lantirn capable with TFR and FLIR 1 Planes: Choppers: Maps: Flaming Cliffs 3 Black Shark 2 Syria A-10C Tank killer 2 Black Shark 3 Persian Gulf F/A18C Hornet AH-64 Apache Mariana's F-16C Viper Afghanistan F-15E Strike Eagle Kola Peninsula Mirage 2000C AJS-37 Viggen JF-17 Thunder F-14 Tomcat F-4E Phantom
Dragon1-1 Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Technically, I suppose you could mount a LANTIRN system, complete with the navpod, to our F-16, and it would probably work. This is not done, though, Block 40 is what is used with that system. 1

I'm pretty sure the TFR on the NavPod would work, but for FLIR projection to work the HUD has to be capable of displaying raster images. That's not something all HUDs are built to do, and I'm not sure the HUD on the Block 50 is physically capable of it. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. TFR would not work on our F-16, the TFR function was removed from all M4.2+ vipers 1
