f14billy Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 (edited) In windows 11 when flaps are down and throttle isn't MIL pressing the DLC/Countermeasures button won't engage the DLC, instead it deploys countermeasures. Gear up or down does not make a difference. In a windows 10 install it works as expected. EDIT: not a bug, flaps were not being lowered 100% due to an error in the axis assignment in the controls. The DLC uses the two inboard spoiler sections in conjunction with small corrections on the tail stabilizers to control lift. The DLC is engaged by depression of the DLC switch on the control stick with flaps and gear down. This causes the inboard spoilers to extend to half and enables the DLC & maneuver flap command thumbwheel on the control stick to control them. Rotation of the thumbwheel forwards extends the spoilers towards the max up position, decreasing lift and adjusting glideslope position downward. Rotation of the thumbwheel aft retracts the spoilers towards the flush position, increasing lift and adjusting glideslope position upward. Another depression of the DLC switch disengages the system. 4 hours ago, f14billy said: Since 2.8 when flaps are down and throttle isn't MIL pressing the DLC/Countermeasures button won't engage the DLC, instead it deploys countermeasures. Am I missing something that needs to be done for it to engage? Here you can find the HB F14 Manaul, most of the useful info are in it. \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F14\Docs To answer your specific question: Chapter 3. Now we need to check why natops material is different... or which one of the references is the thruth UPDATE: In DCS F14B the DLC are engaged with Landing Flaps and Thrust lower than MIL, also with the Landing Gear UP, so the PDF manual seems incorrect, I do not have Natops to check it out, but you looked at it, this make sense. Golo Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Its clearly stated in NATOPS manual, no gear down is needed for DLC to engage. From F-14B (same for A, only different paragraph no.) NAVAIR 01-F14AAP-1, 2.22.6 Direct Lift Control During landing approaches, the spoilers and horizontal stabilizers can be controlled simultaneously to provide vertical glidepath correction without changing engine power setting or angle of attack. Only the inboard spoilers are used for DLC. Before DLC can be engaged, the following conditions are required: 1. Flaps down greater than 25°. 2. Throttles less than MIL power. 3. Inboard spoilers operational. 4. Pitch B and Yaw B computer segregations operational. 5. Operable combined hydraulic pump. 2
f14billy Posted November 29, 2022 Author Posted November 29, 2022 Looks like my flap lever wasn't mapped correctly and it was not engaging the flaps past 50%. That is why it was not engaging.
