Great tool, and its what it says, its a 'tactical' tool, focused on mission tactics, rather than flight training and maneuvers. I relly love the way you can pan back and forth with the slider, all in an instant, and look at different events at the same time. It truly compliments the in flight trk files, which are great for seeing how you fly, and has great cinematic visuals.

I have one query. I flew a mission in mp last night with 2 human pilots, flight took us down a valley and over the mountains. We flew straight down the valley, but when i look at the tac file, it looks like we are flying through one side of the mountains at times, Like as if the location is shifted. Not sure why this should be. Its like its out of calibration or something. Wonder would latency cause it, eventhough our flight was very smooth without connection difficulties?

Any ideas?

What an excellent piece of software, this tool is really useful for reviewing flights and engagements. Thanks so much for bringing this up!

There are slight variances in the 2 terrain databases used between DCS and TacView. (to match them would be an immense task and not worth the time)

So sometimes your tacview shows you flying through the ground.

I am sure you are all aware of this, but! If you have tacview on by default, you build up a mass of large files in the TEMP folder, so it might be an idea to delete them when no longer required.

According to the Tacview website it is Vyrtuoz who develops the software, but from reading in this thread the ED developers seems involved to..?

In what way is this software developed?

Love this application. I have a wish for a log of system failures to be available for player aircraft, so that I can analyze my more inconspicuous crashes :)

Many thanks and I agree, it would be in immense task to keep the two databases aligned. I thought that tacview used the in game terrain database, and that the problem was one of 'calibration' of the object position relative to the database. I suppose tacview would need to be integrated into BS or FC to effectively resolve this.

I just get 'Page Cannot Be Found" when I click "Download". I know that this issue is not anything to do with ED or anything BS. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue...?

I have tried multiple times with the same result. I don't want to have to join the downloading host site just so I can TS with them.

Thanks.

No, but using the search button of the forum you will find something about a workaround to make tacview work for A10C 1.1.1.0, which will work also for BS2.

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

Edit: I can't make it work with BS2. only A10-C.

I just recently learned about this excellent software.

I have installed it but not yet tried it (and only have x number of days left in my trial before having to purchase it).

I want to use it with BS2 for now ... and A-10 later.

One thing I find that is very cool about TacView is that it looks to be exactly like the same tool/software used by the USA in the Red Flag arena ... which is really neat.
