At the risk of sounding like a broken record: Any news on any demo-version of BS? For those of us who'd like to try-before-you-buy this time around?

Last I asked, there was something planned, at least, but then all sorts of things happened, and now people say there won't be a demo, making me cry.

So, what's the story? From the horse's mouth, kind of thing?

Question: It may sound like a strange question, but why do you need a demo? Do you need it because you want to play the game and can't afford the full game (seen that often)? Do you fear your hardware won't support the simulator? Do you fear the realism/difficulty level or, on the contrary, the sim to be too arcadish?

Why do you need a demo?

I can't answer for a demo availability, but I can try to answer your questions and fears. Many other forum members may help. Also, the forum admins may be interested to know why you want a demo so bad. That may help them to focus their marketing.

Sorry, but after the early release of the English version of the game, we decided to not do a demo and instead focus our limited resources on the Black Shark 1.01 patch and DCS: A-10C (not to mention our non-entertainment projects). Given the number of reviews and amount of user feedback, we think you will be able to judge the quality of the product and how well it runs on systems similar to your own.

Thanks Wags for update, I haven't tried Black Shark yet, because I prefer hard copy over download version.

I have one more question. Have you already decided how English DVD version copy protection will look like? Dvd check like in Russian version, or will it require internet activations (I hope not ;) )?

Thanks.

Only ?

What about double system DVD-week check + Internet activation to choose ?

Could you extend a little about internet activation system? ( if this is not to early for ask about ).

Thanks.

Thanks.

I assume internet activations will be limited to certain number of activations and deactivations like in download versions?

I'd prefer dvd-check, but I think I can live with activations though.

Fair enough. I'll just see about the Hog, then.

geogob: Well, mostly I was "afraid" of the realism, and how difficult it may or may not be to fly a helicopter - as a study-sim, it may plain and simple be getting in over my head, and I'm supposed to spend my time doing other time-consuming things. :smartass: So, I wanted a demo to make sure.

I know how you feel Silent Warrior, though I finally gave in and ordered it online.I had Black Shark for about 2 weeks, wondering if it was beyond my capabilities, or at least the time I was willing to devote to learning. I'd fly the Instant Action mission, without actually being able to shoot at anything.

Finally, at the end of my Christmas holiday, with a couple of days to burn I decided to jump in with both feet. Read *some* of the manual, watched Wag's excellent videos, made my own notes. Compared to a standard PC game its a hell of a steep learning curve, but then I'd finished Fallout 3 in 2 weeks, after 2 weeks of Black Shark I've not even finished the first campaign, and expect to still be playing it when the next warthog arrives... That's not even mentioning the 'Game mode' which allows you to par back the complexity to a level where you can fly it more as an action game and less of a sim - as we say here in the UK, 'not my cup of tea'...
