Gorn557 Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Apologies if this has been asked and answered; any plans to add AGM-65s? I believe they are correct for this version of the aircraft.
ED Team Raptor9 Posted December 19, 2022 ED Team Posted December 19, 2022 The AH-64 has never been capable of employing the AGM-65 missile. 1 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. DCS Rotor-Head

A promotional brochure with a mock-up image is not a disagreement, it's a sales pitch. Nor does it change the facts. 4 2 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. DCS Rotor-Head

Spoiler, no one wanted to do it, so it was never operational and the software never learned something like the AGM-65 exists. Despite that we get a „suite“ of the Apache. That’s why we don’t have the ATAS for example…
Solution SkateZilla Posted December 21, 2022 Solution Posted December 21, 2022 The Brochure was published in 2001, AGM-65 and LAU-117 were tested on AH-1W and AH-64s, but were never made combat capable. AGM-65 on the Apache was scrapped shortly after, due to mainly: -No interest from Domestic or Export customers, -A single AGM-65 weighs 4-7x a single AGM-114, 2 Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

I did some further research, I see a number of weapons were in fact tested on the Apache including AIM-9s, AGM-65 and AIM-92, but not made operational, at least on US AH-64Ds.
NeedzWD40 Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Fun fact: The Iranians tried the AGM-65A on their AH-1Js and discontinued use because launching it damaged the airframe.
