Tarres Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 When setting the magvar in order to set the MH in the HSI, it´s needed to input the double value of the magvar (2*magvar value). Caucaus, standard mission, magvar it´s about 6º8'. You need to input around 14º aprox to set the correct HSI in MH. Attached track. P.S Maybe related with the INS drfit? Magvar bug.trk
SeaBass80 Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 (edited) Compare page 6-52 of the flight manual... there is extra variation built into the magnetic compass simulation that includes the effect of the airframe around it. This leads to direction-dependent extra degrees added or subtracted. Up to -2deg to +3.5deg as far as I understand. This might contribute here. Second thought, I take that back. It only seems to relate to the tiny magnetic compass Kl-13. Forget what I said. Edited December 19, 2022 by SeaBass80
jubuttib Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 The manual does say that you should only do the magnetic compensation when airborne, as there can be disturbances on the ground that affect it. FWIW I have had the magnetic heading correction work quite well without using double value. I'll try to record a video tomorrow.
Tarres Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 Thanks. I´ve the same issue with magnetic compensation when airbone. 1
Tarres Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) Ok. Tested with Hot Start in the air with the option inertial+gyro in the ME to avoid the INS drift when doing a cold start. Expected: HSI in true heading by default. The magvar is introduced automatically (hot start), so no need to dial it. Selector Up to MAG, HSI card rotates to the magnetic heading. Selector to center, Gyro mode. HSI shows the magnetic heading. On my end: HSI in true heading by default. The magvar is introduced automatically (hot start), so no need to dial it. Selector Up to MAG, HSI card not updating to the magnetic heading so I´ve to dial it. In this example in the Caucasus, the Magvar window is set to 7º approx., so I dial 7º plus, the final data in the magvar window is 14º approx. The HSI card rotates to the correct magnetic headlining, but the value in the Magvar window now is set to 14º instead of 7º. Selector to center, Gyro mode. HSI shows the magnetic heading. Same applies to NTTR, PG and other maps. Maybe I´m doing something wrong. Magvar bug air start.trk Edited December 21, 2022 by Tarres
Flappie Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Hi @Tarres. I believe this has been fixed in today's OB. Can you check, please? ---
Tarres Posted November 16, 2023 Author Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) It seems still bugged. Now I need to dial 0º in the magvar window. Attached TRKMagvar bug air start 16-11-23.trk Edit. I barely remember how to use the MH/DG. I´ll more tests tomorrow. Edited November 16, 2023 by Tarres 1
