Tank50us Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 So, those that are into WW2 have all probably noticed this... but... where's the T-34s? Seriously, when it comes to the Second World War, it's easily one of, if not the most iconic tank of the European theaters. Sure, in the real world it wasn't that great a tank (I've got access to a list of all the issues T-34s had until post war if you want to argue!), but it's still odd that we have units that were used by the Soviets in the Allied arsenal via Lend-Lease, and we've got the German tanks that were used on that front, and depending on who you talk to, our most basic map was a battleground... but none of the Soviet units from that era are available in DCS. If possible, I'd like to see the following added, with * meaning that it's an Early Cold War unit that can be part of the base game... Anyway... here we go: T-34-76 T-34-85 T-34-85M* KV-1 KV-2 IS-1 IS-2 IS-2M* IS-3* Su-85 Su-122 Su-152 T-44* IL-2 IL-2M* Tu-4* There's probably more that could be listed, but these are the ones that come to mind. And for those wondering what the functional differences are between a T-34-85 and an M, it's actually pretty simple: Ms were all either conversions, or new builds to a specific standard, and are thus the 'best' versions of those units, and typically sent out to equip Soviet Satellite States and Allies in the post war. For example, when the UN and ROK forces faced off against the DPRK and PRC from 1951-1953, they fought T-34-85Ms and IL-2Ms. And across the East/West German Border there were IS-2Ms, T-34-85Ms, and IS-3s staring back at the NATO M4 Shermans, M26 Pershings, and M46 Pattons of the time period. Such additions would be perfect for Early Cold War and WW2 scenarios. Does anyone agree? 1
Gunfreak Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I honestly think much of that should be OctopusG's job. They are now making their second Soviet ww2 fighter. They should add a basic Soviets ground assets as part of those plane moduals Some stuff should be made by ED like T34 etc to go with their F86/MiG15. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
upyr1 Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) I've been asking for this repetitively. We have the I-16 and the MiG-15 and both need proper supporting air, sea and ground assets Edited December 23, 2022 by upyr1
Silver_Dragon Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I've been asking for this repetitively. We have the I-16 and the MiG-15 and both need proper supporting air, sea and ground assets Missing the RAZBAM Mig-19P, and the on develop La-7 by Octopus-G. By now ED or 3rd partiese has none talk about WW2 east front assets packs.Enviado desde mi CPH2197 mediante Tapatalk For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

Enviado desde mi CPH2197 mediante Tapatalk I didn't mention that module as the MiG-19 entered service after Korea so I consider them to be more of a mid cold war aircraft and I think the state of DCS covering the late 1950s to early 1960s deserves it's own thread. we have enough in the WWII asset pack to build a reasonable blue for Korean war brigade but we have nothing for Red For. I consider the early cold war as ending with the end of the Korean war and Stalin's death. I didn't mention the La-7 as that fits in nicely in between the I-16 and MiG-15, it would be rare to find something that served along side the LA-7 but not the MiG-15 or I-16. I know there are no plans which is why I'm always complaining about the lack of early cold war assets Edited December 23, 2022 by upyr1
