sirrah Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Small question.. Apparently in the ME when I type ASCII code Alt248 in a text message, I don't get the ° symbol, but instead get the symbol Φ (Phi). Anyone know how to type the ° symbol in DCS? (I want to have a text message popup, showing a certain bearing in one of my missions) System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

I know it's a workaround, but for my missions I write all the texts that I will be using, on a Word Processor (MS Word on my case) and thus it is easy to insert not only the ° but also the ± and ≥ for example, plus I also get the use of a spell checker. After I have my texts ready, it's a matter of copy/paste to place them on DCS. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Yeah, I know, I'm also using this work around now, but I was just wondering about it, as all the Alt-Tab'ing is not ideal. 8 minutes ago, corn322 said: Alt 0176 for degree symbol. Thanks mate. Will try that tomorrow (just out of curiosity, is this some kind of alternative to ASCII code or something? What's it called?) cfrag Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Since it’s a character on my (Swiss German) keyboard, maybe all you may need to do is change the layout, and press the key (it’s on the far left, above tab on mine)

Alt0176 is not responding in DCS (at least not on my side. it does function in the Character Map app under Windows) Alt176 = ♠ in DCS. I guess I'll just stick to copy/paste from WordPad System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

I've quickly tried my go-to macro utility (voice attack) and wasn't able to quickly set it up (it seemingly hates the '°' character), but other, dedicated text macro utils may give you instant access to this key (even if they may be slightly overkill)

Like being able to just use ASCII in DCS.
