How do I type the ° symbol in DCS ME?

Small question..

Apparently in the ME when I type ASCII code Alt248 in a text message, I don't get the ° symbol, but instead get the symbol Φ (Phi). Anyone know how to type the ° symbol in DCS?

(I want to have a text message popup, showing a certain bearing in one of my missions)

I know it's a workaround, but for my missions I write all the texts that I will be using, on a Word Processor (MS Word on my case) and thus it is easy to insert not only the ° but also the ± and ≥ for example, plus I also get the use of a spell checker. After I have my texts ready, it's a matter of copy/paste to place them on DCS.

Yeah, I know, I'm also using this work around now, but I was just wondering about it, as all the Alt-Tab'ing is not ideal.

Since it’s a character on my (Swiss German) keyboard, maybe all you may need to do is change the layout, and press the key (it’s on the far left, above tab on mine)

Try get the rellated code number from the Cyrilic keyboard.

As far as I can tell it is just Unicode. I get this information from Character Map, which should be a default program in Windows.

Alt0176 is not responding in DCS (at least not on my side. it does function in the Character Map app under Windows)

Alt176 = ♠ in DCS.

 

I guess I'll just stick to copy/paste from WordPad

Have you tried some free keyboard macro programs like AutoHotKey or Microsoft Power Toys to map one of your keys to "°"? I've quickly tried my go-to macro utility (voice attack) and wasn't able to quickly set it up (it seemingly hates the '°' character), but other, dedicated text macro utils may give you instant access to this key (even if they may be slightly overkill)

Thanks for the advise, but I was kinda hoping this would just be... well... simple. Like being able to just use ASCII in DCS.

 

No problem, I'll just stick to the copy/paste work around
