X-31_VECTOR Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Anytime I shut down/ restart my computer, I have to go through the whole setup procedure for my MFD screens again in SimAppPro and in Windows (changing the orientation from landscape to portrait, positioning them in the display layout, etc.). No matter what I change, Windows just does not retain the new settings after shutdown, and SimAppPro acts as though I am setting up the screens for the first time. All my drivers are up to date (both NVIDIA for my main display and the DisplayLink drivers for the MFDs). Has anyone else encountered this issue and/or have thoughts on a solution? Many thanks!
rob10 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I have seen that a few times when I started with my MIP, but it's settled down since and doesn't change on me. As a starting point, make sure you are using the most up to date SimAppPro version (and check that all your firmware is updated -- it's separate for each part. That in theory shouldn't matter as much as SimAppPro, but never hurts). Also what version of DCS are you running? The latest open beta seems to have helped too (it was messing with it if I opened the settings menu to change a binding from the main screen, but not if I did it from within an aircraft -- that's fixed recently). I will say that I often get a warning pop up when I launch SimAppPro that's not set up, but it works fine when I open DCS even with that.

MustangSally Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 It is a known problem with Win10. I had the issue for quite some time until I upgraded to Win11 Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
X-31_VECTOR Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Thanks both. I’m on Win 11. I’m running the latest stable version of DCS, and SimAppPro is up to date, but I haven’t updated the firmware on the displays. I’ll try that this weekend and update here with results.
Padinn Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Same issue here. DisplayLink manager used to help, but not anymore. Any ideas on fix? In the win wing app, what does "start simapp pro and reset the display orientation and position to the former status" mean?
TAIPAN_ Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 (edited) Did you guys ever find a solution? I'm on Windows 11 and it was working fine until one day I re-arranged my USB hubs and added a new joystick. Now every reboot or every time I unplug a monitor the displaylink screens revert back to portrait mode. I believe it's nothing to do with Winwing software as it's core windows issue. I just can't figure out how to fix the bug yet. All the Microsoft posts about this just say the usual sfc /scannow and re install drivers efc, which of course does nothing and just means they have no idea. Scott-S6 Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 (edited) I don't have the WW MFDs but I do have 4x aux displays in my cockpit driven through a starlink USB adaptor and I had the same problem in win11. This is how I fixed it. Starting config - desktop display on, main and aux cockpit displays powered off. USB hubs powered off. Configured the desktop display as I like it. Extended config - powered on the USB hubs before startup and powered on the cockpit displays while the PC is on and windows is running. Set the resolution, position, orientation, etc. Powered the displays off while the PC is on and windows is running. That seems to "save" it for some reason. I always power the cockpit displays on/off while windows is running and it seems to be okay. If I shutdown or startup while the cockpit displays are on its usually fine, except when it isn't and it forgets their settings. Note that I always turn on/off the USB hub while the PC is off, never while it's running. Again, usually makes no difference except when it does... It's dumb and shouldn't work like this but give it a go. Seems to work for me. Edited June 7, 2023 by Scott-S6

I used to unplug it for working at my desk and it remembered that I wanted my desk monitor as main instead of my simpit. At some stage for me though, it lost the ability to save configuration even if I have it all as per the steps in your post. I gave up on M$, and found software called Display Fusion. It let me save a few favourite layouts, and I assign one in a trigger to load on startup. This was the solution in the end, I had an old license and it was still valid. Not sure what the price is. Beeroshima Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 So this issue was driving me crazy. I moved across the country and it began out of nowhere. Reset and Power off resulted in MFD's reverting to landscape. I redistributed where my USB's were plugged in and separated some of them to other hubs. Instantly fixed it. I think it's a windows issue where only so many can be on the same hub if they're configured a certain way.
JUICE-AWG Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I noticed this issue right away with the installation of WW MIP w/Screens this week. Win11, everything updated and current. One correlation I have noticed, the screens hold orientation if I put the PC in hibernate mode and not a full reboot/shutdown. I think it's a Windows issue how it reads USB HDMI connections. I have now moved those three 3.1 HDMI USB lines directly to 3.1 slots on the motherboard. Everything else is powered USB hub. I have a direct line with WW and am reporting this daily. Hope for a solution soon! "There are only two types of aircraft, Fighters and Targets." Doyle "Wahoo" Nicholson [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MustangSally Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 It's your usb hub or if you have the inputs spread over multiple hubs. Connect your screen usb connectors side by side into the same hub. simo1000rr Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) i came across this post by the chance and i wanted to tell you guys that Simapp pro application has a fix for that issue since day one . in the setup tab ( the one on the right i dont recall its name ) under the orientation of the screens there is a check box option that asks you you want to keep the orientation when you start your pc , you should keep that box checked . the trick here is you adjust your orientation first with the box unchecked then press apply with the box unchecked then check the box and press apply again . reason behind that is the box called ' save the last orientation of the screens . the tab is called scaling and layout , here is a an old photo of it because im at work and cant show the recent one , in this tab there is a check box , its not shown in this photo because its old version of Simapp pro null Edited August 13, 2024 by simo1000rr
Lennykka Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Interestingly, MustangSally's tip "Connect your screen usb connectors side by side into the same hub." above was the fix at least for my Win11 setup! Maybe it is related how Windows allocates USB device IDs in the startup...? Anyway, didn't try to debug the issue, I'm just happy that USB cable re-shuffling seemed to fix the issue. 1
maiochine Posted January 19 Posted January 19 guys I need your help please! I have an Alienware M18 R2 laptop and I am using the WW Top Gun MIP together with an Alienware 27 inch external display. I setup the whole WW mess and I was able to use it properly until today that I got stuck on the line "Check display settings in Windows" under Game Peripheral Display in the SimAppPro app. Every time I do something the orientation of the displays changes back to landscape for some reason and of course I can't get passed the CHeck Dispkay settins in Windows funtion in SimAppPro. I tried re-installing SimAppPro and also Displaylink manager and checked for windows 11 updates but nothing helped at all. Anyone could help me please ? Thank you [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rob10 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Have you checked that your Windows display is set to EXTEND THESE DISPLAYS?
