totally agree, its a bit over the top. in dogfights i tend to flip the canopy open to sort of mitigate this issue.

Oh well ...  🙂    Cant say the glare has ever been an issue for me tbh,  I just accept it as part of the 'realism' of flying with a 1940's acrylic bubble canopy and open the canopy if I need to.

Would be good to know if this really was an issue on a real spit.

Had a search on the forums..... looks like you can edit the canopy Image (page4 1st post)....  lots of peeps discussing the pro's cons here.

Edit: had a play about with the glass dds files....  not as straight forward as I thought,  thought i could just change the trasparency   anyway,  I'f i get something working I'll post and DM you

Thanks I’ll try tonight,   been playing around with the *.dds files noted in the last posts but it doesn’t effect the glare/dirt/issue…  and if you go too far on the transparency the canopy ends up with no glass which just feels weired tbh

Just downloaded the MOD zildac posted....  this mod changes the reflectance values in the shader compilation file rather than buggering about with textures..... hopefull this is the answer 👍

You can also try my mod (it privide interactive settng you can set in game for same things than the clear canopy) plus fix only for "in cockpit view":

Intel i5 10400K @4.8 GHz, 3080ti, 32 GB RAM, Varjo Areo.

I spend my time making 3dmigoto VR mods for BoS and DCS instead of flying, see https://www.patreon.com/lefuneste

Those soultions only work offline or in single player missions or if you're lucky with the server and its admins don't be "diehards of the bad understood realism" (cause in real life pilots use to search for pixels instead for light specks), basically 99% most populated WW2 MP servers are from that sect, so all visual mods, also included reshade, are forbidden.

This issue has been reported several time ago and not only for the Spitfire... and don't get wrong: I've never seen an IRL plexiglass been so hazardous as we could experiment in this sim... 109 has better rear view than a P-51D or a Spitfire in this game... so basically this is not part of the "realism pack".... all the opposite.

Modifying  the opacity of the .dds glass layer is a 5 mins. workload and include it in next OpenBeta update just another 5 mins. for a junior programer  (also now they can ask for help to ChatGPT), but I'd like to know the hidden reassons they don't fix this from game files origin with no mods or weird local solutions from a long time ago, just the same for everybody. It's weird to think the solution an army of engineers found for better spotting in WW2 is right one of the worst spotting issues in this game... and even weirder thinking they can fix this long awaited issue in less than a coffee break.

P-51 also has same problem, you need to "zoom in to the max" to see anything thru the glass behind you or even at your side.

Thanks @lefuneste01 I'll give this a try also.

@OLD CROW Cant speak about the others but I dont play on the servers,  prefer single player as I never get 3hrs of uninteruped gameplay...... ie cant pause on a server because wife or kids are having a meltdown 🙂

Remember the back reflection of red panel for the FW190-A8 ?
Take months to be fixed. 🙄

You can teach monkeys to fly better than that!
