Mission 12 - INS Alinement get screwed by ship turning

I guess I know now why I wasn't able to find the carrier. The waypoint (HB and MAN) is around 20 Miles in front of the Carrier Group, while it should be roughly 40 miles behind.

The reason for it, I believe, is the ships turn for Pacos start, while oneself is still aligning the INS.

With the first engagement of the Flankers it is already apparent that the own position is roughly like 10 miles or so off, compared to the Link position of the enemy fighters. This might accumulate up to 20 Miles during the mission.

I did a autostart, in order to not screw anything up in the startup.

As soon as YouTube is done, I post the play-trough video as reference.

We had this before in our online group where, during startup, the carrier took a turn into the wind, and we were puzzled why 3 our of 4 Tomcats had a faulty INS alignment.

I'm not sure if it is the turn or if the bumping during turns is back. The chief is constantly complaining "hey, what are you doing" during the turn and I just sort of sit there with my hands in the lap.

ED fixed this bumps a couple of patches ago, not sure if it is back.

With delaying startups there were problems in other campaigns, but since you suggested it, it seems no problems are expected.

Will there be more missions with a turn during startup coming up?

Had the same issue finding Mother. Luckily, the built-in radio comms (which I’m not supposed to use) still work and tell my position in relation to the ship. Now I know to wait with that INS alignment next time

I waited until the ship finished turning, but still the alignment gets messed up badly, in mission 12 I barely found the ship, in mission 13 again locking to the needles was pure luck (I was out by 9nm!) and in mission 14 the HSD indicated 260Kts of wind!

No, max 4g on mission 14, and I started the alignment after the turn was complete. But I just realized something, I am disconnecting the gpu right after engine 2 start, as per checklist, should I keep it on until alignment complete (are the ships cables now implemented)?

Yep, just tried starting mission 15, definetely my fault with the wrong start procedure. Sorry for wasting your time with this...

If anyone is as dumb as me and is having a problem with this just leave the gpu connected until the alignment is complete.

Interesting, I don’t think that should be needed. Even during the autostart procedure it gets disconnected once the engines are online.

I was reading the manual and you are right, normal alignment is performed through datalink, cable alignment hasn’t been implemented (unless they did that recently).

Did you by any chance inhibit carrier datalink? Being emcon ops? Maybe that’s why it only works with the gpu
