Excuse, to specify I can not yet. Also there was a message on Russian page of forum Pt-boats. In the afternoon, after a dinner, I will look in shops in Moscow.

Original:

"... будет помимо джевела(Jawel) двд-бокс(DVD-box). Туда помимо диска с игрой войдет настоящий план военного корабля из архивов НКВД ( NKVD-KGB-bad-big-russian-bear :) ) ... "

Whats wrong in the pictures =3aBaPKa=? Do you have it? If yes, do you have fun playing it? I´m eagerly to try it since the first anouncement.

Sure it turned from Simulation to Arcade in the allmost 6 years of development...

Demo...

http://www.akella.ru/Game.aspx?id=121

Link 4th down on right. Even says Demo in Cyrillic.

DL in progress. Very slow and no idea of file size!

Cheers!

PS I have an idea this is actually the DX10 Benchmark, has been available for some time

Unfortunately it IS only the tech demo...:(

Tech demo-benchmark, основанный на игре «Морской Охотник» демонстрирует графические возможности DX10-версии и содержит все основные визуальные эффекты, а также некоторые высокодетализованные модели, представленные в «Морском охотнике».

Well, I have ordered this game from Qpig.ru (place where some people got their BS dvd's before the download version came live)

Still waiting for confirmation of payment - It took a little while for those who bought BS too, but the deliveries were made in the end!

Don't know what the game will be like, but the price was good.

Cheers!

Copy of a post I made on SimHQ -

Just received a copy of PT Boats from here. Delivery time of 1 month to the UK!

I wasn't sure what to expect. There are some mixed reviews on Russian sites, but it was cheap enough and it's fun working through the process.

Graphically it's generally similar to SH3. In the bridge view you get the shadows of your own vessel that shift as you manoeuvre but I have found that some smoke effects vanish and re-appear depending on distance. Might be an issue with my PC, though. Crewmen do not seem to animate much unless there is a target to track.

I'm not too far in, but gameplay tends towards arcade style as far as I can tell. I've only run a couple of tutorial missions and not fired any guns yet. I have noticed that vessel speed decays very quickly if you stop engines, but ship handling generally feels realistic.

My copy is, of course, all in Russian. I have been able to change to an English menu so that helps, but all mission text and tutorial speech is Russian.

There is a multiplayer option, but I see no servers listed. That may say a lot about the game...

It looks like PT Boats could be modded in a similar way to SH3.

Performance is good. I have an old system and framerates in the tutorial missions are good, even with 'all sliders to the right'.

At the moment I feel that the game I have may not be what the developers intended all those years ago. I will get further in and try to get some weapons fired!

Cheers!

Couple of other things I have found -

All the missions are scripted. Components of the mission files are spread all over the PT Boats folder.

There is no mission editor, and due to the way they are put together, hand editing missions does not look easy.

Combat is good fun. There are actually lots of things going on with the crew once you are engaged and the game has a good feel. Boat handling is simple but lets you get on without fighting the interface.

I have yet to find a mission that takes place near land. Maybe further in.

There are loads of aircraft, ships and weapons available, but you only get them by passing missions...

Still not seen any MP activity.

Unless the western release is substantially different from the Russian version I cannot see it being a hit. The Russian forums are pretty dead. The game reminds me of something you might play on a console.

I have the impression that the developers just ran out of time/money/patience and that PT Boats has been released in a state where they might just make something back. I played some SH4 this afternoon and reminded myself how far ahead that sim is. PT Boats does not have the open-ended freedom that a combat sim needs and without any mission editor...
