the forver orbit could be related to the bugged MT engine, but if Chig doesn’t even switch for you, it sounds like somehow your dcs install is corrupted, I just don’t know how.

Yes i selece slow repair with ‘remove extra files. I don't know what keyboard combination I have for the fireworks command! The default combination [LCtrl+LShift+S], doesn’t work for me, and in the settings I can’t find the “salute” command.

I just don´t get him with guns, and all other missiles get evaded. So i run out of ammo and dthen the mission is a fail, since nobody from the ai helps. Quite annoying, I think I have now 10 tries or so (today I tried it 4x, all with me not able to do the gun kill)

I was experiencing very similar A2A outcomes within this mission; i eat a missile every-time, usually after successfully defending against the first. I got pretty frustrated and decided to instead put the Flanker on the defensive first;

  1. crank hard left and launch sparrow early at around 15nm (guaranteed miss  - although on another playthrough it did actually hit) 
  2. whilst retaining at least 2000feet above the target, full afterburner and close the distance to no more than 3nm or before the flanker re-commits
  3. within LAR, launch both sidewinders staggered by a couple of seconds

I repeated this 3 times successfully just to make sure it was not a fluke, worked on all three retries.

There is what i think is a HB F-14 bug in VR that is only avoidable if you re-start a mission; the issue is that Television Camera Set (TCS) feed does not display. This issue with this mission is that you always start with 12a (intro to mission) and as such cannot restart 12b (or at least i don't know how to within the campaign). This means that you cannot view the camera which point tracks the targeted ship. I guess not a big deal as the LANTIRN pod digital overlay still displays and guides you to the target.

BTW i love the 'jolly ranchers' bit - i used to buy those back in the late seventies from 7-Eleven when walking home from school - nice touch RefSim! Too bad that candy company got acquired by those a-holes at Hershey in the 90s

It's been a HB bug for years and years. Please give them a nudge, I already have.

Could someone do me a favor and check this mission again? I need to figure out if the issue I'm having is on my side. 

My issue is with the A2G part of the mission, and I have had this since the beginning. When nearing Pagan, I experience what the instruments tell me appears to be very high wind speeds. FPM is way to the right of the HUD, and there's a discrepancy with the heading indicator. Also display says wind speeds between 60 and over a 100. Only over Pagan. It sometimes causes LGBs to miss the boat(s), and makes the subsequent strafing very challenging. Incidentally, displayed wind speeds are lower the farther away I get from Pagan. Aliens maybe? 👽 🙂 

Could it be an INS/ alignment problem? I'm waiting for the carrier having finished its turn into the wind before even connecting the power. 

I'm running vanilla DCS, except for VAICOM. The issue has been persistent for me ever since I got the campaign. None of the many patches/ updates nor multiple slow repairs I've done since have made a difference.

I can't find the post anymore, but IIRC someone floated the theory some time ago,  that since this mission is under EMCON conditions, the alignment process could be borked? Leaving the power connection on until ready to taxi didn't really do anything, though.

Here are some screenshots that I hope can help illustrate the issue. I'm using VR, so the screenshots aren't very good.

I would very much appreciate if someone could refly the mission and report back.

Back when I first noticed, I did exchange PM's with another DCS user who back then experienced the same issues.

Oh, and this is the only mission I am experiencing this, not only in this campaign, but generally.

Thanks for checking. 

I actually do wait for the carrier to have its turn finished before doing anything other than setting oxygen, ICS, mils and ammo counter. Oh well, maybe it really is VAICOM interfering somehow. 🤷‍♂️

I'll try one more time by starting directly from the ME. 

It's not that big of a deal, it makes the mission more difficult, but not impossible to finish successfully.

You actually can restart the part after "LOADING NEXT TASK". You sit through the intro and when the next part is loaded (12b) and you sit in our aircraft, press LSHIFT+R and the mission restarts from 12b. 

Heatblur just posted something, that this still is on their agenda and they are actively looking into that.
