So I was really testing the TM, flying the P47 and dropping bombs and rockets on some Germans.

Even if I dropped a 500lb bomb almost onto of 2 German 105mm guns, they didn't die. The bomb crater was almost touching the guns, yet they only took some damage.

I dropped 1 250lb bomb almost right om top of some Pak40s I could see the pak40 still firing while inside the bomb explosion. Again some damage but no kill on the pak40s.

I know bomb splash damage isn't great in DCS, but this seems a bit extreme.

Did you try destroying them with the 50 cals, were you able to ?

there's something wonky going on with some static objects. In certain MP maps where there are static planes on the ground it takes 50+ cannon shots to destroy each, or something like that, same story if you drop a bomb next to one it still takes another 10-20 cannon rounds after that to kill them, I assume the ground guns follow suite. I.e. it's not an issue with the splash damage as it is with the hardness of the object itself.

This is long term issue with DCS. I think ED siad that they will re do whole damage model for ground units, right now damage is based on health points, if you damage some units beyond threshold, they will blow up after some time. And damage is represented in %. Question is what is 100% damage for DCS, for example lets take pak-40, 100% mean that cannon barrel is damaged and pk-40 can't shoot or 100% mean that pak-40 is blown from surface of earth ? Second thing units perform exactly the same no matter how much damage they take afaik.

This pak-40 is operated by crew which has no protection, even if gun was fine after near 500lb bomb detonation would kill the crew.

No.

1) The more damage a unit has the slower the top speed will be

2) At some point it will even stop firing if the damage is high enough (but still not high enough to count as dead)

A pak40 is just a hunk of metal.

But as you say the crew would be dead or mostly dead if a 500lb bomb went off within 100 meters of them. The guns explod at 0 health I assume to simulate ammo going off. But again I assume a close bomb would cook off that ammo.

It is still far far away from how it works irl.

That's true. But their performance does drop depending on how much damage they take. Far from how it works but still better than nothing.

Yep, they will, according to their words same as warbirds new damage model but for all ground units. IIRC they probably were intended to start with WWII stuff. Who knows when, of course.

Question is does accuracy or rate of fire drops with taken damage or is it only speed which is affected ?

what force can destroy it in your case ?
