hyperfighter Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hi i found the following bugs: when i make a mission in the editor and add ships (in this case it was 1 usa flight deck ship and 1 russian frigate [not the aa the other one]) if u run the mission it works fine then alt-tAb, everything is ok -> alt tab again to get back in game and nothing will happen, dcs still runs but cant be accessed anymore...remove the ships from the mission and everything works fine again). vista 32b, amd dual core, ati hd 4850 , 4g ram. when changing to external views several times (e.g. F2) will mess up my engine sounds (running dcs under vista sp1) ps: i alt-tab out to set the affinity of the core's right...this needs a fix as well (it will boost my framerate by 7-10 which is worth the effort) :joystick:
bigalsunit Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I have the same problem. Even just by adding one armed speedboat to a mission, when I play it, DCS will freeze when I ALT-TAB and then try to get back into the game. Weird? I hope someone can figure this out so that I can make missions without being fearful of adding a ship or boat.
DragonRR Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I have the same problem too. Ships in mission, can't ALT-TAB back to game. Odd one :) Full screen btw. [sIGPIC]Click me to go to the post[/sIGPIC]
Feuerfalke Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Good find. I noticed that I can ALT-TAB in even the largest missions from FullScreen Vista64 with 4GB RAM, but even with some smaller missions, when returning to the game, it's still "responsive" according to taskmanager, but I cannot access the game any longer. Reading this, I realized, that this is always the case when ships where in the mission. That's true for one of the online missions of the 159th server and I also noticed this on some early test-server, where you could land on ships. It does not happen in windowed mode, even when minimizing the screen. Bolt Uprite Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I'm sure I'm missing something here but can't you just click on the dcs tab in the task bar when in windows to get back in ???? as long as the sim isn't froze up that is. it works for me .
Ulrich Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Windowed mode is recommended if you use alt-tabbing.
DragonRR Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Windowed mode is recommended if you use alt-tabbing. Ulrich.. it isn't a major issue, for me at least, that ALT-TABBING kills the game if ships are in the mission.. it's more that it's odd that this is the case. Especially since, without ships, ALT-TABBING works 100%! :) [sIGPIC]Click me to go to the post[/sIGPIC]

hyperfighter Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Are you using windowed mode or full-screen? full screen
DeltoBrava Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 As far as I've seen, everyone in the game with Vista (32 or 64) is unable to alt-tab without it crashing the game or screwing it up in some way. I run XP 64-bit and alt-tab works fine.
Zakk Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Alt-Tab works just fine for me with Vista64 in both modes. Gigabyte|Q6600|8GB DDR3|GTX285|Win7 64|X-65
Pavlos Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Zakk and DeltoBrava, does it work even if there are ships in the mission? GNSF
eV1Te Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Windowed mode is recommended if you use alt-tabbing. For me and my friends windowed mode gives us 10-20 lower fps than full screen even though windowed mode is at lower resolution. I use alt-tabbing a lot and the game isn't playable in windowed mode due to the performance drop. I hope this issue is resolved in the patch.
DeltoBrava Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Zakk and DeltoBrava, does it work even if there are ships in the mission? Yes. Works whenever I do it and it does it instantaniously.
JozMk.II Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I'm encountering this problem myself. Has anyone found a solution? If not, I sure hope ED addresses this in the first patch.
hyperfighter Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Yes. Works whenever I do it and it does it instantaniously. What ships are in your mission? do u run in windowed mode? is the task manager already opened after alt tabbing or do u have to press 'ctrl + alt + del' first? if alt tabbing works while ships are in the mission and u have vista consider yourself lucky i guess :pilotfly:
Cionara Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I got the alt-tab bug, too but always. No matter whats going on. Just alt-tab to desktop, two dcs symbols in taskbar, choose the one with simulation running. Then got the yellow game cursor and sounds and can do everything but no picture just desktop-background. The bug has been fixed in 1.0.1. The problem you describe sounds like you use the enbseries HDR mod. That is not a game-bug, though. Cionara Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Does the mod bug the game ? Why is that ? =( Watercooled Core i7 920 @ 4,3 Ghz @1.36Vcore GTX280- 700/1188 6144 MB DDR3 7-7-7-18 1333Mhz
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 The Mod uses it's own DirectX overlay, or something to that effect. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Feuerfalke Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 The mod creates an overlay, an additional layer of DX. It does not "bug the game", but once your tabbed out your graphics cannot be restored. The game still runs, but the graphics card is unable to recreate the layered display. Similar problems can occur when using programs like TeamSpeak-Overlay or VoiceOverlay, as they are based on the same method.
