ruprecht Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I can't find any way for a unit to throw smoke on a trigger. This would be a very welcome addition to the ME. "Gator 1, target is a bunker 300m east of the bridge. Standby for red smoke, wait." "Gator 1, target is 30m north of the red smoke. Clear in hot, danger close." ruprecht Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Any ED reps care to comment if this is on the feature list for a future patch/release? nemises Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 You can load up an AI with smoke marker rockets, then force target the AI to your target for this.
mckee14 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 you could create a triggerzone short in front of the target area, and then activate the smoke-firing unit trought it. this way, the unit starts when you arrive in the area. i usually let them start in the air, in a valley nearby but out of sight, so it looks like they where just flying in on time... if you have a specific target to mark, use the "point" attack mode, otherwise just define a target area and -types, but the AI then needs some time to find different targets (and almost impossible to create matching voice-files for that one). Democracy is choice, not freedom...
Jagr Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 There are smoke rockets ingame..you just need to setup a custom loadout in the arming screen.. I've flown mission in multi acting as a forward observer marking targets with smoke for others to attack.
EvilBivol-1 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 This will be possible in the upcoming patch. You will be able to set triggers to place a smoke marker, signal flare, illumination flare, and explosion on the map. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. eV1Te Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 if you have a specific target to mark, use the "point" attack mode, otherwise just define a target area and -types, but the AI then needs some time to find different targets (and almost impossible to create matching voice-files for that one). I haven't tested this but to sync voice files to an aircraft doing random smoke runs inside an area you could set a trigger for that aircraft to start the voice file when he is inside that trigger zone, and not having his ordinary waypoint going through that zone, thus only activating the voice file when he is close to the enemy and on his attack run?
