Count Sessine Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Hi all, Sometimes, not too often, but often enough to be irritating, I get a 'rudder stuck' problem. I can't figure out if its a bug or not, but it gets stuck to side or the other (usually as I reach a battleposition and get ready to engage). I reset trim etc, but it doesn't change anything. I can overcome it by manually compensating to the other side (I have an X36). Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it stays stuck until I land then when I restart its gone... Any ideas what could cause the problem?
Ramstein Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 X36 usb uses a rocker switch (for rudder), and that gets worn out.. :joystick: Hi all, Sometimes, not too often, but often enough to be irritating, I get a 'rudder stuck' problem. Count Sessine Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 OMG - are you telling me I have the perfect excuse for finally upgrading my HOTAS? :music_whistling:
DeltoBrava Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I thought this problem was only with me because of my joysticks calibration. This does happen to me frequently even a few minutes after re-calibrating. Bug?
eV1Te Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Have you looked in the Ctrl+Enter mode to see how the axis behaves and also turned of heading hold and reset trim etc. so you can remove any suspicions that it's the helicopter it self that wants to turn...? If the axis reported by the joystick itself is in the center position when you have centerd it then it's something in the game that is spooky, so if the rudder works great in other games and when you look int the control panel then you are probable experiancing somthing some problems in Ka-50 alone.
Jack57 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Try enabling Flight Director (FD) - if it disappears then it is likely you are fighting the autopilot (AP) or the trim set by the AP. Turning on FD disables the AP but retains the control dampening. "The only thing a chopper pilot should do downwind is take a leak" - CFI _______________________ CPL(H). This is a very good idea. Try to replicate the problem with the axis-viewer on and see if it might be your axes doing crazy stuff.
Count Sessine Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Yes, your analysis was correct. It is random. Once in a while the rudder gets stuck. A hard bang on the desk with the throttle solves the problem. X52 ordered and on its way. :)
CE_Mikemonster Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hahahaha good stuff Too many cowboys. Not enough indians. GO APE SH*T
danger Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Yes, your analysis was correct. It is random. Once in a while the rudder gets stuck. A hard bang on the desk with the throttle solves the problem. X52 ordered and on its way. :) X52 is perfect BUT, be warned and do not use the throttle thumb wheel as the rudder. i have this setup and find that like the rocker system on the x32, it gets worn out and flicks the rudder full left to right in nanno seconds. Also, the way the 52 is set in regards to the cyclic, being a pressure plate, because the plate and the seat are made of the same stuff, plastic, it gets sticky, i have tried all sorts from oil to wax fo free it up but it always goes back to being sticky. this hurts when making fine stick adjustments.
