MadTommy Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) **** Mission File Download **** I have a SP mission to share. Its a large(ish) battle where your flight must provide CAS cover. It is a 'get up and get at em' type mission. A cold start from a FARP close to the up coming battle. It is a dawn mission, targeting initially may be difficult, with luck flares will light up the area. Soon however it will be fully light. I'll get a MP version sorted, first need to test the triggers in MP. I have tried to make a rich battle environment, where you are a small but vital part to a large plan. Due to this i'm not sure how it will play on marginal PCs, plays fine on mine. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want, depending on how gung ho you are. Threats you will have to find for yourself, all i'll say is; they are varied. The mission is somewhat dynamic, and will play differently each time. There is a lot going on, so the variables are numerous. And i have random triggers built in. Tip: Change out your NV goggles, you wont need them. Helmet mounted sight will be much more useful. Anyway I hope you enjoy it and feedback is always appreciated. :pilotfly: ** disclaimer: I haven't tired to make it a 'realistic' battlefield, I'm not a military person, but it sure is a battle. And i used the 1st name that came into my head.. not the most original, i'm sure ** :smilewink: Description: War has been raging for months... The Russians are mounting an attack in your sector. Fierce fighting is expected. A dawn attack is planned. The American led coalition is expected to put up fierce resistance. RED Briefing: Your flight of Ka50s could well turn the battle. Provide CAS cover for your ground forces. It is vital you take out key units, you contribution will be vital. You will be taking-off from a forward FARP, with minimal time for planning, use it wisely. The offensive attack will be a 2 phase attack in 2 directions. You are expected to rearm and supply at the FARP as required and rejoin the battle. Offensive operations should be over in approximately an hour. You have 2 waypoints, named Op1 & Op2. Op1 is a suggested location for phase 1 and Op2 for phase 2 of the battle. You have target locations of suspected enemy concentrations entered into your PVI-800. Run as many sorties as is needed to pacify the enemy. Your success will be governed by the success of the entire battle, good luck and come home safe. uhoh7 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Had alot of fun with this mission. Very nice terrain, weather and TOD. Good concept. Early in the mission things got very active, droping the frames on my system far more than any GOW mission. This lasted a good ten minutes. Then things improved. At one point I was hit--right engine fire--I hit the cutoff and made it back to the farp for repair and rearming. First time I've been able to do that in a comabt situation. Finally was killed looking for target behind enemy lines after quite awhile. Frames had improved to 30 by then. TY very much for the mission--hope to see more. I loved some of the complex ground activites, hehe, with lone vehicles racing about. Was in place to take out ammo dump but my laser craped out, and I wasted rockets. Glad you enjoyed it.. i think i addded a few to many groups.. a few finishing touches may have made it a bit heavy. My rig struggles a wee bit during the B1 bomb drop. I'll polish it up, take out a samll bit of fat and get a MP version out. 1 i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Try to overclock it as well. I run mine at 2.7GHz without having to raise any core voltages or using a bigger cooler. AFAIK you can go as high as 3.0 GHz with the stock cooler but have to raise core voltages a bit, at least my sample became increasingly unstable over 2.7 GHz. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Yossarian Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) 2 suggestions: - modern panzers would fight in movement. Also in defense. - decrease the count of panzers could increase the fps, their movement will keep the level of difficulty stable But nice impression of a big battle, makes me sweating. Edited February 20, 2009 by Yossarian
