X56 Score!

Recommended Posts

I have an X52 and have been thinking about upgrading to the X56, while on a popular auction site someone posted 4 that was returns and tested as not working. They was priced at $69 so I bought one. stick didnt work so I used some contact cleaner and bam everything works! Only issue that I can find now is the slider on the throttle does not work.

Anyone have that issue and if so how did you fix?

The slider shows as a button if I'm not mistaken.  Is it not registering at all?

You are correct, using joy.cpl every other button shows activity but the slider/button does not. I think I am just going to take my win and ignore that it is the only thing not working.

try to use the saitek programming software, sometimes used devices has profiles saved inside and will not work as intended.

If I can remember, the slider button (the one you can reach with your thumb finger, usually used as brake switch , has only two positions forward and backward) and only one is enabled each time you press it)

That slider works only as a button when moved to the right. Once activated moving it back (left) does not deactivate once set. One has to move it to the right again.

HONEST I started with a X56 but Now use VIRPIL and I Honestly feel you can get more BANG for your BUCK and be WAY happier with VKB as any NEW or Upgrade into DCS. Why. it is far more Reliable to use and People that own it(Not Me) Love it. The Reviews I seen on it are just far more better. I had more than 1 problem with X56 USB plugs and strange ghosting problems popping up and I found if I did not start pulg in and use DCS in 1 order of PC startup use, I would have problems. My point is just price is close so invest into the low end Good Quality VKB before X56(kind of out dated)

Same here. I had the X56, ended up having the ghosting signal problems (switches executing without me doing anything), the friction problems, and the throttle 'falling' on it's own. One of my biggest PC regrets I've had after going to VKB and VIRPIL combination.  X56 is definitely cheaper, but the ratio of cost/quality is disproportionate. It's quality is far worse than it's price tag should allow for.

Have had my X56 for 3 years now and no ghosting issues. That issue is caused by using the HOTAS without an external powered USB hub.

I found the X56 throttle to be actually decent (the stick not so much), can be a good purchase as these days it's found fairly cheap in the used market.

Its known issues can be easily remedied taking the following things as a rule for it:

  • LEDs always OFF in the Logitech software, pretty much a requirement to avoid any issues.

  • Better make sure as well to connect it through a self-powered USB HUB.
No need for expensive ones, cheap ones like TP-Link UH720 ($25.00) are absolutely fine.

  • Do the following for both the throttle and stick, to solve ghosting and jittering problems (usual in throttle and rotaries, also happen with the X52 and X52-Pro), by using Vjoy +Joystick Gremlin, following this tutorial:
