VR IHADSS bug

I've just recently got into VR and noticed that, when in the apache, the IHADSS renders the same eye in both eyes (if that makes sense).. see images below.

I have set the ihadss to render in the right only in the settings yet I get this issue.

I don't have this issue with HMDs on other aircraft like the hornet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Would like to fly the apache but this is ruining the experience!

What are your VR settings?

I've even changed the mirror (which I know shouldn't cause a problem) to see if that changes anything but nope...

I'm guessing you already tried repair?

Outside of some corrupted file, it looks like headset issue

Also, did you try running it without reshader? I had an issues with IHADSS that turned out to be mod related.

I will give a try again.. I did a repair before but I'll do it again...

I did try without reshader but I will remove it again and test it out...

Will keep this updated...

Using the pico 4 headset.

Update to repairing and removing mods... no change.. did a slow repair and completely removed reshader mod.

Basically it is showing the monocle on the left eye as well when it is counter intuitive as it is a MONOCLE! It seems to show the right eye on both eyes in the headset despite changing the settings to be only on the one eye (notice the positioning of the NVGs on both eyes, basically the same)

Hope the issue I am mentioning makes sense?

I had to resort to removing the "view monocle" option so I could fly the aircraft but it is not a solution because I WANT to see the monocle only on the right eye...

AFAIK, the monocle and all the stuff must be rendered in the two eyes in order to achieve the 3d effect in VR, the left right or both eye ihads is for drawing the IHADS info on one eye or both, with my eyes for example, if I only select the right eye I see the green a little less brighter, so I must enable both eyes. If you enable only right eye you must experience the behaviour you are looking for.

Like in "real life" you are capable of seeing with both eyes the stuff is in front of them, so you have a 3d percepcion of the environment, but the info will be displayed only to the chosen eye in dcs, more or less like on the movie from Nicholas Cage "Fire Birds (Wings of the Apache)".

One more thing, at your DCS Vr pref. uncheck ipd distance or force it between 55-65, you will see IMHO better 3d distance...(at least on my reverb g2), maybe this is your failure.

I don't think you're quite understanding what I am meaning...

Let me try to explain. I appreciate and understand that when you close your right eye and If you look thru the left, you will see the monocle as well.

What I am trying to say and show is that if you are looking thru your left eye, you should for example be looking at the left NVG tube correct? Or rather your eye should be directly below the left NVG tube... if you look closely at the picture I posted... the left eye mirror shows that the right NVG tube is directly above the left eye.

This means that the left and right image are basically the same (if you look really carefully). As a result, you see the monocle in both eyes (I wouldn't mind if the left eye's view of the monocle is ever so slight offset as it would be in real life but that is NOT the case)!

Looks to be a bug which is a shame (I think).. I am extremely surprised no one's picked up on this!

Re: ipd setting in VR tab, it wasnt a "failure", i had set it to 1 or whatever after reading several posts and videos re: vr settings.. i personallt tried rhe default ipd distance and  found it quite uncomfortable to fly as i inherently have a high ipd and it was causing a lot of discomfort.

I will try adjusting the ipd to something lower than 64mm and see if that makes a difference.

If I am not making sense re: the left and right eye.. do let me know but hopefully I explained it quite well in this post?!

Also, if you look at the balaclava and where the nose bridge is, shouldn't the image rendered in the left eye show the nose bridge to the right of center?  I've never flown in VR, so maybe I just don't understand how the technology works. 🤷‍♂️

Like I already said, this seems to be something with your headset.

I have Rift S and I don't have this problem.

Left eye does not render IHADSS at all.

I think I understand you a bit better, but .... in real life, if I put my hand where the monocule should be, I can see it even looking straight forward, I mean, I put my hand a cms far from my right eye and I can see it with both eyes, I close my right eye and can see my fingers (displaced) but can see them, so that was my point to the "3d sensation", I assume  that this is a little more difficult to render in 3d .... but I will try this evening.

Might be a pico 4 thing then cos I even replaced the headset at it still shows

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, and I'm not in front of my computer right now, so forgive me, but there is an option in settings to render the monocle on the right eye, left eye, or both. Which do you have yours set to? I think it is in the AH-64 special options tab/area.

I just checked in my Reverb G2, and you are RIGHT, in my headset only renders the monocle at the right eye, also as I have the both eyes ihads render enabled I see the ihads info in left and right eye. Try to remove the reshade or play without it to see if any filter makes the monocle appear in both eyes.

Also , but I think it is not the issue, at VR options try the mirror eye only on right eye, at least is how I have this in my setup.

I will see if enabling both eyes in vr mirror makes the monocle appears,

I'll say it again, as I probably wasn't clear in my response above. Unless I'm missing something, this whole thread can be resolved by selecting your desired eye (left, right, or both) for rendering the IHADDS in the options for AH-64 screen.

Looks like you are missing something.  If you look at the first image he posted in the thread, you will see he has "Right Eye" selected for the IHADSS rendering.

Figured out why it was projecting the same eye twice.. the force ipd setting was set to 1 when it should be close to human eyes ipd.. once that was changed, couldn't see the monocle thru the left eye
