AMD hardware also supports direct storage and PCIe 5.0 is not mandatory. As far as i know, DCS does not support it though... I think, if ED wanted to improve VRAM / RAM foodprint and management, they could do some very straightforward asset optimization first. There are enough discussions on this board, about how ED is wasting hardware rescources by not optimizing texture assets at all.
