MadMaxter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Maybe they both look alike because they are both good representations of the same airplane. Just a thought. Nice work, I hope to see it real soon. Max [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:
Kuky Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Tomcat looks great! rattler Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) Both are excellent, The other is also a great plane and hard as hell to do and I won't take that away from any modder/s. This is very difficult work and a tremendous amount of time and dedication for any modder who does any type of mod, texture , wrap/unwrap, 3d model, animation and on and on. Some people are better at certain aspects of developing an aircraft and I see they are called upon to help out and that is what it is about. The other Tomcat and Rick's is just a matter of choice. Some may see things with Ricks that appeals to them and some will see things with the other that they like better. Both are excellent Tomcats and it shows in the work. Congrats to both for excellent Tomcats. Edited February 19, 2009 by rattler

borchi_2b Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 hmm, but it is strange, that they both are nearly twins. i model for myself, and half way professional, but one thing is sure. you will not find my eagle in any other sim so far then in lockon. this might be just a mattr of time, but this is a fact, that the 2 tomcatzs look very similar. i do not know what i should think about this fact http://www.polychop-sims.com
rattler Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Does It really matter? We are getting a new and excellent F-14D for the community. That's the important thing.:)
shaggy Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Yeah but if it is stolen its like driving a stolen car. According to me. Intel Core i7-8700 3,20GHz - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 - 32Gb Ram - DCS on 500 GB SSD - Windows 10 - Thrusmaster Warthog - Thrustmaster TPR pedals - Track Ir 5 - Samsung Odyssey+ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.virtualredarrows.com
Aeroscout Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 ahh... I don't think it's stolen. RICK was working on this long before VNAO: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=28255 DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
MadMaxter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 There is only one way to find out, and that is wait and see. I think it is all pure conjecture and assumption until then. Yeah, they look similar. Two roses look similar too. The difference will be in the close ups. I say, leave Rick alone until it comes out. Then if it is found to be stolen, he will have to answer. But without looking at the wireframe in the modeler, it is impossible to tell for sure with just pictures. Lets wait and see. BrumTx Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 VNAO still updating their F-14 ? ( for public consumption ) not heard anything in ages Remember the 346 Fire Fighters, Medics & Police who died on 9-11....... Selective memory is a wonderful thing, especially when certain posts simply disappear into the ether never to be seen again, unless I have a copy of the original post copied and pasted into word documents and saved .... just in case :) Am I an abusive idiot ? Due to physical incapacity my Wife types my post's for me
MadMaxter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I will be honest. The VNAO is extremely short-handed right now when it comes to modeling. In fact, I am the only one working on a project. I am looking at updating the F-14/F18F mod for damage models and such. But that is going to take a very long time if I am the only one doing it. Its not the modeling so much, its the finish work. The successful modelers have kept most of the how to's to themselves. There are no useful tutorials that I am aware of that explain how to use the plugins to export your models into Lockon. Honestly, everyone is close to the vest with this info. Which, frankly, is surprising, because they all bitch that ED is too close to the vest with their stuff, and that if ED would just open up, the community mods would grow. Well, that is true, and if the talent in the community would open up and provide complete tutorials for the community, the same thing would happen. Rick is doing a fabulous job, and we should all reserve criticism for the final release. The VNAO tomcat was good, we certainly use it and love it at VNAO. But things change and I don't see us updating anytime soon. We are just too shorthanded when it comes to modelers. Thanks, Max P.S. Those interested in helping the VNAO with modeling are certainly welcome to come talk to me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:

If they can't help, I am sure they could give you the material you need to continue. Just a thought. cheers. Keep it up Max. VNAO is a great idea and am sure your pilots enjoy it. Sorry to hear about your modders. Wish you success in get the information and or help you need.
MadMaxter Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks. Actually, modders we have. We have talented graphics designers, skinners and mod creaters. We just need modelers to help with our goals for the coming year with regards to DCS or Lomac. Max [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:
rattler Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Now this is a great way to turn a modder off. What is wrong? Seen too much of this. Reserve your opinion till the model is out. If you keep making these assumptions about modders, the community will suffer if they decide to stop. That is one thing WE do not need, if this sim is to progress. Try doing one of these for yourself, you might sing a different tune.:music_whistling::book:
Boberro Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Nice model, can't wait to shoot down this baby :D 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Szelma Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 You Guys, im looking on this two pictures I'm sure that Rick's model is second one. Rick's model is more detailed and higher pollycount. Look at vertical fin tips - everythink is more detailed. Look on textures - also more detailed.
