pomk Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Hi guys, So happy to join the group. I've been facing a game crash for nearly a month. It occurs every time I ran the game on Steam which is the only platform for me to play the game. I did troubleshooting myself by reinstalling the Windows and now it's Windows 11, redownloading the game twice. However, it is getting worse. Please help me out. These days I've tried hard to address the crash but it turns out all efforts are in vain. I am completely exhausted. Here are the crash logs. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helps me. The last log records the crash after tweaking the register as it states : dcs.log-20230711-172612.zip dcs.log-20230711-170234.zip dcs.log-20230712-081100.zip

Flappie Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I see BIGNEWY was faster than me. ---- Welcome pomk. I've had an important crash issue a few months ago after moving from Win 10 to Win 11. I solved my issue by uninstalling the GPU driver, rebooting, then installing a fresh one. Even though you had the problem before updating to Win 11, please try this first. I see your DCS is only given a 5 GB pagefile, which is not enough. Use this guide to edit your pagefile settings. These are the settings I recommend for your PC: No pagefile on C:\ (it has too few space left). No pagefile on D:\ (2.5" SSD are slower than NVMe drives) Page file on E:\, init size = 32768, max size = 32768 (32 GB). Then reboot your PC. If DCS keeps crashing after all this, please attach a fresh dcs.log and we'll keep searching. ---

Your guidance is so intelligible and helpful to the people like me who literally don't know how to set pagefile. I'll try it tonight. 2
pomk Posted July 14, 2023 Author Posted July 14, 2023 (edited) Hi guys, I set my pagefile to 32GB and ran the game again. Unfortunately, however, the game crashed again. Here are the logs. Thanks for paying attention to my issue. As a side note, does "DX11BACKEND (Main): failed to create structed buffer. Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" worth our attention? dcs.log-20230713-082352.zip Edited July 14, 2023 by pomk

Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" worth our attention? Yes. That is the reason for the crash. This error code means DCS was unable to talk with the GPU when it needed it, as if it was gone. This can come from many different things, from hardware to software. Please check this list of potential causes: Windows power plan is saving energy while playing (ensure it's default power plan at least - not "eco" or anything like it) GPU driver is faulty (you can try uninstall/reinstall it - you can even use DDU to make sure it's fully uninstalled) GPU is overclocked too much RAM is overclocked too much PSU is faulty or not strong enough GPU is faulty CPU is clogged with dust ASUS GPU Tweak is playing you tricks MSI Afterburner is playing you tricks Aorus Graphics Engine is playing you tricks G-Sync Windowd/Fullscreen settings and DCS Windows/Fullscreen settings are not happy with each other ---
pomk Posted July 14, 2023 Author Posted July 14, 2023 I see. I am going to follow the list to check my laptop.
Flappie Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Since it's a laptop, I guess you can skip the clogged CPU step. I should reorder items. Start from the bottom of the list. ---
