TACAN/ILS

I can't seem to pick up TACAN or ILS form the carrier. I have the carrier advanced action set to activate both and transmit on an assigned channel and is assigned to the appropriate group. Both have been enabled on the UFC (and  HSI 'boxed') with the corresponding channel and no waypoint or weapon designation selected. The pointer in on the HSI just spins and there is no LOC or GP bars on approach. Just updated to the most recent Beta version. Never had a problem with this in the past? Has something changed in the last few months? Native ground TACAN seems to work fine.

I changed the TCN channel from 2 to 12 and started at 25000ft, i moved "activate tcn" to top in the ME Advanced Waypoint Options and carrier TCN worked as it should.

Beware that the TCN signal can be limited due to altitude and mountains, alhought it should work at 3000 ft (default altitude in your missions) because you´re near the carrier without barriers (mountains).

Try to set different TCN and ICLS channels.

About carrier ops: "The younger pilots are still quite capable of holding their heads forward against the forces. The older ones have been doing this too long and know better; sore necks make for poor sleep.'

First thing - open a kneeboard and see if the TACAN and ICLS are working. If they do, you'll have channels in the KB, if they don't there won't be that info.

Right, got ya. I am aware of the radio limitations just assumed 3000ft and line of sight was fine. I did try changing to channel 20 and up to 15000ft but still nothing (before posting this thread). I did notice that the Advanced waypoint options now some appear bright white and others grey, do you know what that means?

Thanks.

Roger that.

It doesn't work for me, I would assume the problem is somewhere in Mist script. Why do you load it in such a simple mission?

Also if you want to practice carrier landings, your carrier placement is not correct. You want to have wind over deck 25-30 kts and no crosswind. Now you have WoD 17 kts and 3 kts crosswind.

Ok, tested it a bit.
Remove "Go to waypoint" in advanced waypoints. You don't needed. Ship has waypoints and she'll go to them, you don't need advanced option in this case. It's for triggers.
Move weapon HOLD to the bottom.
Give a mission 5-10 seks to run and TACAN and ICLS starts working.

Remember that order of the commands in advanced waypoints does matter - next option will be executed after previous whan have been completed. So when you set "Go to waypoint" mission probably was waiting until CVN reaches WPT1. Didn't test that.

In conclusion - remove redundant commands. Correct carrier setting for carrier ops.

Thanks Foka I was ignorant regarding the order of operations regarding Advanced options. Ya I was just messing around regarding the mission settings. Will the ship keep going around again even after it gets to the last waypoint? And do you know why sometimes I see white text for some advance options and grey for others. I don't have an example but have seen this recently and not sure what that is indicating.

Cheers.

On the last waypoint ship will stop. But that's the moment you should use "go to waypoint" option. Add it on last waypoint, set it to go to waypoint 0, and now ship will go all around.

But this will f*k up your wind over the deck even more.
