Recommendation for switch to local version

Amazon just let me know that they've sent my order of Black Shark on the way.

I should receive it tomorrow.

 

As I have right now the English download version installed, I ask what is recommended to do, so that I can switch to the German box version.

 

Do I have to deactivate the english download-version first, then uninstall?

Or can I simply install the German version over the English version?

Which serial should I use ?

 

What do you recommend me to do so that I have less problems?

I have both, the Russian and the US-Download-Version.

 

I had both installed for a short period of time, but then deleted the Russian version.

 

 

My recommendation:

Deactivate the Russian version, copy files (missions, logbook, mods + ModManager) into a backup-folder.

 

Now install your German copy and activate it. Copy the files from the backup-folder as you want to your new version.

 

Uninstall your Download-Version.

 

 

This way you won't lose any files, activations or settings. If you find something goes wrong with your new version, you can still look at your older installation, before removing it.

 

 

Oh, don't forget the next step: Give your old version to a buddy, to infect him with the flight-sim-virus ;)

I haven't tried installing both versions side by side myself so I am not sure (using dual-boot here), but I'll try to get an answer for you. In any case, if you want to be on the safe side I'd deactivate and uninstall the English version before installing the German one.

Please don't do that, if you try to use both concurrently then install them into different directories.

As Russian and English serials are incompatible I guess this will be the same for the other versions, too.

I preordered it in January already, where I had the english version just for a month. Couldn't wait :)

I finally switched to the German language box version. :)

 

Works out of the box like the English download version did.

 

I should give an extra % to my review because it's running so smooth out of the box.

Translation is fine as far as I have seen it, Ingame as in the quickstart manual. Very nice :thumbup:

The best part was in the FAQ section:

"Der Helikopter spielt verückt. Er dreht sich in alle Richtungen und reagiert nicht auf meine Steuereingaben!"

"Der Helikopter ist nicht verrückt" and I thought it's followed by:

"Sie sind verrückt!" :megalol:

 

Well I heard some complains about the German EKRAN language anyway. :music_whistling:

It's a voice that intents saying "Honey, didn't you want to do the washup?" or "Honeybear, didn't you want to bring the garbage outside?"

Well if that's all - I can live with that. Forces one to watch out more when flying, so that the vosice doesn't show up. :D :thumbup:

 

Now, against all recommendations I deactivated the English version, uninstalled it, installed it on my 6.5 year old backup computer below recommendations (Athlon XP 2400+, 1 GB RAM, X800 graphic card :huh: )

Worked fine too. Absolutely no issue with deactivation or reactivation. :thumbup:

 

As expected, it's running not very smooth on that machine. :idiot: :music_whistling:

I want to edit missions on it, but it would be nice to test those too on that machine with more than 15 fps.

 

Can you lead me to a tweaking thread, please :helpsmilie:

There will be a printed manual in Germany language as well.

I don't know exactly, but it should be released soon.

Not expensive - around 25 I guess.

No. The only thing you can change is the cockpit from english to russian.
