I always find it a bit weird that the pilot already sits in the aircraft and then tells the ground crew "Oh, could you please exchange these Mavericks for a pair of JDAMs, and add a fuel tank. And also, I don´t like the color of the aircraft, please repaint it" 😄

So, I would really like to see a Briefing Room, a room where you start missions in, you can review the mission briefing, select your aircraft and your loadout.
This could also act as a multiplayer lobby, so when you join a server, you are put in the briefing room, instead of just being presented with a rather long list of aircraft slots.
Make the F10 map available there, so players can see what´s going on in the current mission without blocking one of the player slots. Give it a chat function as well, so players can discuss the mission.

It never was realistic in the first place, especially when they do all this in 3 minutes. So in SP you have the option to not use it but some MP missions will force you to.

The Briefing/Ready Room is already WIP feature for the Supercarrier - they might do some version of it for all modules depending on how well it fares.

Oh nice, don´t own the supercarrier, so I didn´t know it´s in the works. Is there a list of planned functions somewhere ?

But anyway, I think this should be a core feature and not only for the carrier.

During the early access period, the following additional features will be added:

  • Air Boss (PriFly) station.
  • Briefing room.
  • Occupy the Landing Signal Officer (LSO) station with PLAT camera, including VR support.
  • More LSO station interactions.
  • Combined Arms integration.
  • "Burble" effect.
  • Wave off and bolter return to pattern radio messages.
  • Functional barricade net.

From other sources we know about WIP on the deck crew directors: from startup to the launch and from trap to the parking.

Ready Room

  • Review your mission brief and set up your aircraft.
  • View various cameras around the deck.
  • Chat with other players.
  • Review the mission map.
  • Live sounds from “the roof”.

Nice, that´s pretty much what I had in mind.

One would guess that the "Ready Room" on the Supercarrier will eventually translate over to the DCS Core for airfields as "OPS Building" or "OPS Briefing Room" ect.

Same goes for the ground crew animations. One can dream... maybe someday we will see these core improvements come to fruit.

All this has already been discussed and confirmed by ED, the Ready Room and Air Boss technology will be used to create Ready rooms and control towers on ground bases on a future. The same of the Super Carrier ATC to make modern (NATO / Russia) and WW2 ground bases and AWACS, and also the deck crew, which will be used to make ground crew and directors.

Things being discussed, and things coming to fruit are 2 completely different ballgames. As we have seen over the past 10 years with DCS.

Hopefully it has some sort of briefing packet that acts like the kneeboard, but can by dynamically updated real time through lua scripting. This would be really good for multiplayer missions with dynamically changing environments.
