Hello,
I was unsure if this was a feature but the ABRIS sometimes comes into the state where it is not usable anymore. This happens on different occasions, either pve missions or pvp servers with different amounts of ground units on the map.

After asking some people on the official ED Discord, it seems to be something that is not a issue for everyone. Here is a video:

I hope for a easy fix

Thank you

@MortalMando I now know why I could not reproduce this issue at first: it only happens when Padlock is disabled.

In the meantime, activate Padlock and you won't suffer this bug.

Tick the box allowing padlock in the main GUI settings, and/or the mission editor ?
I've never used padlock and have no idea as to how it works

If you set it in the main GUI settings, it should work.

Enabling padlock allows you to center your pilot view on the nearest contact (or nearest bandit?) whenever you press call a padlock command (look for "padlock" in your aircraft controls, you'll see them). It's kind of a "legal cheat". I've only used it once, to report a bug.

You can use it to populate the F10 map with spottet enemies too, right? If fog of war is enabled or something in the mission I guess.

That fixed the scaling issue. Sadly it's not fixed the other issue I've got where sometimes the Abris screen starts out without the map - black screen - and then appears at some random time after takeoff.
But that's just annoying rather than a huge problem.

If you can reproduce this black map issue, please create a new thread and attach a DCS track to it.

It's no problem reproducing it, but I'm not sure if a track will help if you read the explanation in the thread I started. I do have one though.

Next thing for tomorrow is try it out - it would be amazing if the Abriss would work again as intended.

I am sorry but I have still issues with the map being out of sync. The „padlock“ work around doesnt fix the problem although it got better - this might also be because I deleted the temporary files on the Harddrive. I will do some further testings but hope you guys can still look into things.

You mean you ticked this box and you still get the bug?

Hi All,

I have padlock on (did not even know what it is) and I observed following:

- got rid of all mods, including my own and FC3 clickable cockpit.

- loaded simple mission I used before

- spawned into running hot Ka-50 on ground

I observed 2 use cases:

Use case 1: I zoom in view onto ABRIS. The zoom in, zoom out works with almost no noticeable delay. FPS is ~ 110-140 FPS

Use case 2: I zoom out so not only cockpit, but outside is visible. Zoom in, zoom out suffers from noticeable delays before rendering map (updates delayed) and objects (updates fast). Observed FPS is ~ 90FPS.

So clearly, it may be dependent on PC performance and how much it needs to work (wider scene requires rendering of not only ABRIS and cockpit but also terrain).

Can you be more specific please? What exactly did it fix? There are different problems with the ABRIS performance. Its funny because I dont have any problems with the Apache TSDs.

my PC should be decent enough I have about 60 FPS on 3850x1080 with a 2080ti. The CPU is one of the high end ryzen. If you check the video I posted you see me only looking at the ABRIS. How should be ABRIS behave when zooming in and panning? Is there a delay or is it as smooth as the MPS/TSD from the Apache?

ABRIS updates are supposed to be with no delays when zooming in/out.

My suspicion is that this started happening with one of the last 2.7 releases or early 2.8 release in October, when BS2 was reworked (it got greenish screen, became more sluggish when handling). The next major change occurred on BS3 release on Christmas. From that time we actually have 3 black sharks (at least us who bought it before): BS2, BS3 v2008 and BS3v2022.

I will check if I have enough disk space to revert to one of prior versions.

Thanks for the info. I will do some further testing in the coming weeks, since the problem persists. Its quite annoying when you want to put in a flight plan and cant, beause if you zoom out of the Map or pan, your symbology and scale are not synchronized.
