Afghan War: "Szatan Arba" campaign

Did you turn off engines (wait until the end) and land in the right place? Track will by good too.

So I did the mission again today. It was a success. The shutdown triggered the end this time. Either I messed up something while auto shutdown yesterday or something bugged, idk. Well, let’s continue the campaign!

I wonder if it's the same issue in mission 8. I destroyed all 3 targets, got the "mission accomplished" screen in the end, but only had 49 as a result which resulted in "failed".

It was a nice mission though

Unfortunately, as far as I know, ED will not make any patch for DCS OB in January , it will only be in February, unfortunately. Perhaps with F-4E already.

I had a frustrating time ending the first mission. It was not really clear where exactly I should land and shut down the helicopte since I didn't saw a flare marking the landing spot. 

At first i parked between the Hinds near the planes and shutted it down. Nothing happened, so apparently that was the wrong spot. So i fired it up again and moved over to the spot with the other Hinds the the Hips. 

Shutted down again and nothing happened. I ended the mission causing in a failed mission without the possibility to skip it. This is frustrating due to having not much spare time for flying. 

An picture where to park in the kneeboard would be helpful. Can someone please post a screenshot of the spot. 

I absolutely want to fly the campaign. It looks awesome and appears to be an labor of love.

The biggest part of parking place between Mi-24, it's rather difficult to make a mistake because there is no other similar place there, other places are filled with trucks. Did you turn off engines and was waiting few seconds more? Maybe I will do more clear info about parking spot in the incoming patch (after ED OB patch).

But I have also add that I don't know how anyone could not notice it ;). The flight coordinator says that "we should land between Mi-24s on the largest parking square", also you can notice car and flares (green).

I landed in the 2 Spots I marked on the picture behind the spoiler warning. 

I completely shutted all systems down and waited. 

 

Well, apparently I thought too complicated not seeing the most obvious parking solution.

I gave it another try this evening and this time the mission ended as intended. Absolutely loving it so far, besides this irritation regarding the parking spot.

This time I also witnessed the green flares.

And now I´m aware what misleaded me yesterday. Petrovich says, we should park among the other helicopters. So I assumed I should park somewhere near those helicopters resulting in the 2 spots I tried yesterday. Maybe I got it wrong because obviously I am not an native speaker too, but if Petrovich wouldhave said between the helicopters, maybe this would have been more clear to me.

 

So whatever. This is nitpicking and the fault was on my side. I really love what I have seen so far and I am very much looking forward to my deployment to Afghanistan.

Really enjoying the campaign. Almost finished it. Its really atmospheric!! And just beautiful with the view and music. Will report back when finished.

Any hint for mission 13? I never find the helicopter...I sometimes get the squares but it seems impossible to find/spot her. I even checked the AI flight plan in the mission editor and still failed. I simply skipped this mission now (might give it another try sometimes).

During this mission, you can use the radio guidance, they will tell you what square the enemy helicopter is in. Currently, after changes in the visibility of the object in DCS (dot), it is quite a large dot, visible even in NVG quite well.

Thanks, I must be blind in that case . I was told EU44 and stuff like that and I really thought "I should see it". I once had the message "helicopter 9 o clock" when I probably was "close", but I simply did not see it. Anyway, I'll try another day. Not sure what changes I'd have to do for the objects to make it more visible

Just finished the campaign. Thanks again. It was very entertaining and well done. There were those 3 mentioned missions with the DCS bug which will hopefully be fixed (and mission 17 gave me a success while flying over the field w/o having dropped the bombs). It was also interesting to get some information about this war. The voice overs gave a lot of atmosphere even though I did not understand a word. And although I'm not a big fan of "just videos", I must admit that "mission" 18 was well done and cool to look at. It was a good end for the campaign.

My favorite mission probably was mission 15, followed by mission 16.

Only mission 7 was frustrating in my opinion me because I never saw the other helicopter(s).

I don't think so, because it would be better to create it from scratch on a new map, but maybe there will be a new campaign, we'll see!

I have one question on mission 7 (night one): how do I load troops? It is trigger based? I´ve opened cargo bay doors and via radio (airborne troops line) commanded troops to embark. Troops embarking message appear so i´ve waited 10 minutes but nothing happens. And yes, i have chopper started and ready to taxi.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried again? Sometimes it happens in DCS that scripts may load incorrectly. It's worth repeating the mission.

It should also be in the right place to load soldiers, although if you see the proper command in the menu it should be fine.

Yes for sure. You need to use menu in Radio for embarking/disembarking. If you will be at right place you have to see option for embarking (and no easy Com I suppose).

Still no luck. Jeep came, tree troop unloaded from it and started running to structures at my 9 o´clock. Message that they are boarding appeared but they didn´t react on command and ran away.

Half way through the campaign and its outstanding. The action is great and almost as good is the long flights in the Hind, love just piloting the beast around.
