Feedback Thread Tomcat Hotfix Dec 28th 2023 (now live!)

Dear all,

our apologies the changes only make it in now as they did not get pulled for the original patch by accident. The major addition of course is the TARPS pod - which for now is only a visual model. Later we plan on implementing some very basic/ rudimentary gameplay for it.

With this we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and of course, as always, would like to thank you for your continued support and kind feedback.

DCS F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations

• NEW: Added boarding ladder to static and AI aircraft.
• Added TARPS loadouts. 
• Adjusted loadout restrictions for TARPS pod.  
• Fixed broken normals on both -A and -B

Does this mean we get a hotfix patch today or tomorrow?

Wait, I thought it was out already... My apologies, pre-Christmas stress is getting the better of me. But yes, a hotfix is incoming.

In computer graphics they are vectors used mostly for proper object shading/light reflection.

Santa didn't bring me a boarding ladder for Xmas   He did however bring me a rare hardcover copy of The Cutting Edge, by CJ 'Heater' Heatley.  What a mensch!

The update just came out...the TARPs pod is in, but I wasn't able to see the boarding ladder. I checked for the boarding ladder on both static aircraft and uncontrolled AI aircraft.

Perhaps the boarding ladder is not deployed by default, but has to be manually selected by the mission creator in the mission editor.

Hmmm, I'm not seeing TARPS loadouts nor a TARPS pod when manually inputting a loadout. As for the ladder, I'm also having no luck getting that to deploy. What am I missing here?

TARPS goes on Pylon 5.  It's there and it looks amazing.

TARPS is available as loadout on the rear right tunnel hardpoint, but I also had no luck with the boarding ladder.

I placed static F-14A and B on the ramp but they only had the intake covers attached. Same with AI planes with option uncontrolled.

Nope.

So the TARPS was available for me early in the morning (around 7-8:00 central time), but a few hours later it would not let me equip my tomcat with the TARPS pod.
