Schlomo1933 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Please make it an option that the switchcaps open automatically when flipping switches in all modules. for cockpitbuilders is it really nervtesting to use a second switch just to open/close a switch cap . 4
SharpeXB Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 You wanted a real cockpit…. So? Put guards on your switches. They’re there for a reason unless you want to accidentally trip something important. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

Sorry if I ask the obvious question.... Isn't it the purpose to be as close as possible to the cockpit you're re-creating? Just use guarded switches. (ones where the guard has itsown microswitch) I've not built a cockpit, but I imagine that it would be preferable if you didn't need to construct or program as many switches. This is a good sim option, sometimes you just need to consider practicality. Having the option to auto handle switches also won't prevent anyone from using them realistically. 1 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

I'm perfectly fine with any options, don't get me wrong. I just wasn't sure what you meant with "cockpit building".... 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

(ones where the guard has itsown microswitch) Building a homepit is really expensive. use switches that have microswitched cap is even more expensive. so I want to use switches with a normal cap. There is no need to flip the switchcap inside DCS separately. ED did this already with the the safetycap on the weapon launch button in the Apache.

(ones where the guard has itsown microswitch) The OP is trying to reduce the number of electronic components and possibly is using the cover on a physical switch Edited January 8, 2024 by upyr1 1
upyr1 Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 While I am not a pit builder, I have to agree this would be a nice option to add. Since the way things are right now you'll need 2 switches for a covered switch. 1 for the cover and 1 for the switch. If you have the cover on your physical cockpit then why make 2 steps in DCS? 3

Depending on the software solution you use for your home cockpit/button box, you could make it send two different outputs, say, 100ms apart. This way you could program one of the buttons as lift the cap, second to flip the switch. I'm sure DcsBios could be expanded to do something similar. For stock controllers, some may support macros, but I'm not sure.
HPLsCat Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 Or even something in module special options to ignore them, or open then close when the switch is thrown. Apart from the big red enclosed ones, almost all covers are spring loaded to close after you throw the switch IRL. 15E engine starts, most anything in the Apache (other than the zeroize type), etc shouldn't hold open, so if you want realism in a cockpit build, they should rarely need a separate micro switch to display the action. 1
