It would be awesome to have a little feature in the Future to have the 4500ft and longer runways in a 1960'ish style? More straight and with tarmac? Would be the closest to a Vietnam feeling and even enhance the feeling and the value of the map (usability wise)

And with the right Tools not too much work, I guess 😉

Agree 100%

It would be great if ED worked on optimizing this map for VR. The modern Mariana was also pretty sluggish when first released, then about a year later it was nicely optimized and it performs excellent nowadays. The WW2 map is .. ahem.. a stutter fest on my 9800x3d + 4090.

Airfields at Guam seem to be the worst so far, Orote and Agana at least. My old 3070 struggles bad when low above these, intermittently sinking below v-synced 60fps even in empty missions (just my plane flying around), which is surprising because they aren't THAT populated with static objects and structures, are they? I thought it was just a question of running out of lousy VRAM budget, but I'm running out of it even faster on NTTR map and yet that one remains butter smooth. Maybe it's something about trees or shadows, can't narrow it down yet.

Some extra optimisation would definitely come in handy.

I think the problem are the huge palm trees forest all over the place on those islands.

Saipan is running much better because they dont have such large forest.

Very nice map and so far so good with no issues maintaing 70 FPS. Took the Mustang for a nice tour of Guam at tree top level and went north to the other islands.

Thanks ED.

I am not able to install it on my PC. Can you help me ? Thank you in advance .
You don't find available in the module manager? Try to open the MM, select maps/theatres or whatever it's called. It should be there.

Cheers!

What's the problem exactly?

Max, we're talking about Steam here. There's no MM there 🙂

Oh, you have to do everything from the Steam console? How are you notified when new free DLCs are added then? You manually must find them and add them? Phew! Happy I never went that way then.

Also this was a link to download my Marianas Trains addon with simple install instructions - A Narrow gauge Steam Loco and 5 assorted wagons.

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345510/

Total waste of my time that was !

Theres been ZERO feedback so i guess the 223 users who downloaded the pack have not even bothered trying it out !

I suspect they are blissfully unaware and still using the Huge German Trains from the WW2 addon pack on the Marianas Narrow Gauge Track.

There is an "unbeleivable negative Zero interest"  in Me creating any Realistic Trains for DCS on this forum.

I have pulled the Plug on My Marianas WW2 Trains Pack - My British Trains Pack and My Cold War Germany Trains Pack before i waste any more of my time uploading any more.

Bye Bye !

don't be so harsh on yourself, I very much appreciate your work, waterman!

I just can't play with your trains on the Marianna map because it gets 30fps in VR 😞  the map is seriously unoptimized for VR use.

Every post you made with your trains received positive feedback/reactions. How you take that as "negative zero interest" is unbelievable. Do you just ignore every bit of positive reactions and focus on the negative only or what?

But hey, your choice. If you perceive all that bit of positive reaction as non-existent interest, so be it.

There is certainly interest in what you are doing, even if you don't get hundreds of messages about it. There will and always be the dozen bunch of people happy for every bit of asset provided by people to improve the game, even if they don't directly express themself.

I can totally understand the frustration when this kind of thing happens, but on my own case the files I share is work that I mostly do for my own enjoyment, so if I eventually share some of it for others to try, and then it seems to not be other's cup of tea, I don't really care as it's for my own enjoyment and so it can't be time wasted.

I came onto this thread because I've been porting the Corsair training missions to this Map, so this is the first post that I see about this Mod you did ... don't know why I didn't read about it earlier, did you do a thread about it?  For my own files I almost always open a forum thread about it, as it's much easier to get user feedback there than on the User Files section.

Hope you can reconsider the sharing of your work, as I'm intrigued and would very much like to try appropiate trains on my future missions for this Map. BTW this is how the ported training is looking like (I did this with the blessing of the missions original author):

Don't say good by so fast please.

We all need time for a new map and new mission ideas. Barely flown the map because the map is new and I have only one or two evenings to fly. So I had not the time to look at your mod.

In DCS everything is a little bit slower. The people needs several month to investigate new mods which bring new mission ideas.

Please give us more time

Just in case anyone is interested -

There is a "Problem" and i have had complaints from users who downloaded the Marianas WW2 Train Pack.

The "Problem" is the Trains are not able to be Deactivated.

This is a "DCS problem" - E.G - When a train arrives at a destination users cannot Deactivate and make the train Dissapear ( it works in old ST version but not in MT Version )

The trains just continue out over the ocean or over the grass for ever !

I have reported this issue several times but it still needs fixing.

I even showed "Wags" DCS trains flying over a SuperCarrier.

Also My "DML" Train Time Table Schedule Sequencer and Signalling System does not work anymore because the trains will not Deactivate and Clone.

There is Marianas WW2  / Normandy British Train Pack and the Cold war Germany Train Packs i was working on.

However because of this situation regretably the Marianas WW2 Train Pack is pulled from the DCS Files site untill the Deactivation Issue is fixed in an update.

Wait and see i guess ?

Wow!
There's a saying that goes, "Nobody thinks about you as much as you think about yourself".
If you take the time to make mods for ANY game then people who use them mostly do it because they think it's a good mod/idea.
If the maker expects gratitude and plaudits from every one of these people then I would (respectfully) suggest that the maker is probably in the wrong game.
Personally I love making skins, especially for WW2 planes and there have been many downloads of them by people (like, in the hundreds). I actually do them for my own enjoyment and, like @Rudel_chw above, don't really care one way or the other if people use them or not. I merely post them just in case someone can find a use for them.
I would just take it easy and maybe re-assess why you actually do these things...
