BTW, if you have the headset at 90hz, and you can't get 90fps sitting in the main menu, your resolution is too high for your GPU. Adjust the headset resolution or pixel density accordingly until you can get 90fps, or even 120fps in the main menu. Launch into your favourite mission. Let's say you are getting 66fps. Press Esc, Options, drag the Max FPS slider down to 60 (10% headroom), and Resume. This approach works regardless of graphics settings or mission workload. Performance has been outstanding in DCS World (ST - not tried MT yet) without any additional utilities, at 90Hz and my standard settings that I used for VR since 2.7 Average mission framerate is 67 and GPU frametime is mid-teens. Noticed the odd stuttering of AI in heavy missions but otherwise no complaints. CPU frametime averaged at 4ms. I haven't enabled motion smoothing or tried FFR as yet as I usually say "if it ain't broke..." but will try and see where it goes. Extreme dimming is set. Tested in Caucasus and PG Just incase you're not aware, ED announced that the next update will be dropping ST, and all users will be on MT - so even though "if it ain't broke" is a great concept to go by - you won't have that option on the next update. Of course, if you don't play MT, and aren't interested in any new modules or updates coming out - you have the option to remain on your current version and run ST. Really hoping though, that ED will have all the MT issues sorted out in the next update - especially considering ST will no longer be an option. Personally seems crazy to drop ST prior to having a stable and equally comparable or better MT experience for all users first - even at least for one patch cycle, but IDK what's happening behind the scenes or what might bebeing 'held back' by ST support that will be more beneficial. 1

Dangerzone Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 That video is a great starting point - but I have found that tweaking Quadviews to my needs is even better. (Running 160% in foviated, and 5% in the borders with a 10% margin area, and I have also increased the vertical size. Quadviews was a miracle generator for me. I tried the FFR in Pimax software but couldn't get DCS to run without being limited by GPU until I used Quadviews. I don't know what it does - black magic or something -but for me at least, my GPU runs cool at the moment in DCS. My biggest issues are being CPU liimited by a long way (with a 13900KF processor).

I’m on the 4080 super. I can tell you what I use off the top of my head with regards to DCS and Pimax play. My hardware is in the signature below, so I won’t type that out. in Pimax play I have rendering set to .8 120hz refresh, no FFR/quadviews enabled, smart smoothing is enabled. for DCS I followed https://www.gamersbynight.com/dcs-settings-vr/ But kept the distance to ultra and clouds too I believe. The forest I used Tally mouse’s settings. Tinker with it, maybe there’s something’s you can/cannot live without . I chose as much of a balance of performance and quality as I could. I’m thinking about tinkering with the dlss settings to see if that still work and what if any benefits it has. good luck and clear stutter free skies Edited October 18, 2024 by Blackhawk163 My first assigned aircraft is in my profile name Ryzen 9800x3d/64gb DDR5 amd expo/RTX 5090/4tb m2/ Win11 pro/Pimax crystal light Winwing Orion F16ex (Shaker kit)/Skywalker pedals/Orion 2 F15EX II Throttle/3 MFD units/Virpil CM3 Mongoose Throttle/Trackir 5 F-16/A10II A/C /F-18/F-15E/F-15C/F-14/F5E II/F-4/Ah64/UH60/P51-D/Super Carrier/Syria/Sinai/Iraq/Persian Gulf/Afghanistan/Nevada/Normandy 2.0

nephilimborn Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Good day all; received the PCL a few days, previous DCS VR experience with Q3. Struggling to find settings that mitigate the focus issues i seem to be having with PCL. OpenXR settings via the new PPClient (QV quality, Max render res, 72hz) DCS settings are generally as advised on the DCS forums with max FPS set to 77 (10% headroom). I have noticed others mentioning that 120hz locked to 60fps via the PP client is a better experience and will try that out tonight, however curious what the community here has experienced. i7-13700KF; RTX-4090; 64GB RAM; Quest3 & PimaxCL; Virpil CM3 + VKB Gunfighter Mk.IV MCE-Ultimate + VKB T-Rudder Mk.Vl; Windows10 (F*ckOff W11)

What do you mean by focus issues? As in alignment, or are your lenses actually out of focus? (I ask because mine weren't mounted properly and were significantly out of focus, and even after mounting them correctly I needed replacement lenses sent because my original ones also had warping). As for DCS settings, I use 72hz/fps. Motion smoothing OFF. (I can hit 72fps anway). Quadviews (essential piece of software) set to 160% in foveated, and 5% on the edges which I barely notice. I've avoided the new supersampling function Pimax have due to it causing writing, and labels, etc to be 'soft'.

Blackhawk163 Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Update on the 4080 users front. I'm still using the settings in DCS as outlined in my previous post but have made some adjustments on the Pimax play settings. First I'll preface this by saying that 60fps is plenty smooth for me, and it may not be the case for others, I just wanted to keep as much visual fidelity as I can. I've bumped up the Render quality from .8 back to 1 enabled Pimax openxr quad and pimax central priority rendering (the verbiage has changed since the new update) preference is still quality Smart smooth on lock half on hidden area mask on Vive compat on DLSS Tweaks setting F I took the a10IIc instant mission free flight at the caucuses, which is filled with heavy cloud cover, and have a locked 60fps Free flight in the Persian gulf map @ 200 AGL a10II/f18 16 and 15 and 14 all through the city centers locked 60 Sinai Israel free flight f14a mission worse offender as dips went into 35fps at times. free flight on f15 dips into the mid to low 50`s both are at 280 agl on the free flight mission as well. The 18 on the map dips to 58 fps but, rarely on its specific area in the free flight mission (I chose the first CAP flight in the menu) and again flying at about 300 agl This is all with about 15 minutes of testing as I'm quite busy today, and with the exception of the a10, and other than landings/mission specific parameters, I don't think most will be flying that low to begin with. I'm sure lowering the resolution to about .85-88 might help stabilize some of the problem areas while still appearing very sharp. something to test later. Blackhawk163 Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 For the DCS settings why not drop the resolution to the lowest since that’s only for the monitor, unless you’re recording then never mind. Quad Views companion will still work if you’re still using Quad-Views-Foveated. Nothing has changed there. PimaxPlay has a new OpenXR Quad Views option as well though (this is unrelated to just using the Pimax OpenXR runtime). If you select that option, and remove Quad-Views-Foveated, then you won’t be able to use the companion app anymore, it only works with Quad-Views-Foveated. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
