Our F-16 3D model and textures are really showing their age compared to the latest modules.

Some still feel we have a rushed and unfinished product on the artwork and 3D side of things.

I hope that the reluctance to include community liverys is a sign that work is being done in house to improve things.

I doubt it. There are still numerous model errors and the rear cockpit is untextured. We've been asking for years to get it updated and nothing has come of it. Just a few weeks ago the F-16 was deemed feature complete and left early access so I doubt ED will go back and fix it now. Upgrading the model and textures for a released module that most people already have won't make them money. The shiny new modules like Mig-29, F-15C, and F-35 will.

Hell, look at the hornet. It has model and texture issues noted since early access almost 8 years later. Most of the textures are low resolution too. It needs updated more than the F-16 but neither will likely be fixed until ED sells a paid remaster for the F-16 and F-18 v2.0

Its a real shame that at least the texturing cant be finished and brought up to at least the same standards as what the community is producing. Especially if the 99% work is already done and offered by the community for free.

I would would be more than happy to pay for a F-5E style update if that's the way ED prefer to go.

Be careful what you wish for.  If they were to update the model and the textures, they would almost certainly encrypt them both. Which would make the Viper essentially inaccessible for community textures and liveries for the most part.  Let's hope they never update it.

I think it's safe to say we wish for ED to deliver on their promises, and what's listed on the store page: 

• The most realistic model of the F-16C imaginable, down to each bolt and flake of paint, animated controls surfaces, lights, damage model, and landing gear.

 I don't use any of the default stuff anyway.  So, for the most part all the "missing" stuff is not missing anymore.  So much work has been done that it's basically that way.

Same here.

I only fly with user created liveries (including the ones created by you), and some liveries that i edit with more details and stuff for private use.

Neither do I, but surely you see that was not the point.

A product was sold based on promised made (what’s listed on the product page), and those promised were not kept or only partially kept.

The default F-16 looks like a plastic toy, at best.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to start up that entire discussion again. There are already other threads about it…
