Hi gents,

first of all please accept my apologies for this post. I am not really sure where to post it.

Recently I was doing a bit of a desperate cap and ended up defending Beagles gunning down a Fulcrum while running on fumes. I announced my desperate fuel state and when I ran out of fuel the Beagles tried to push my Tomcat, however it ended up in a mutual fireball. For any bloody reason they did not want to abandon me and my RIO.

The 4 gents (2Beagles x 2 Crew members) claimed that a Sabre (?) pushed another Sabre home.

Is it possible to push a Tomcat in DCS and does the game engine allow that?

Cheers

Yes, the Sabre thing did happen in Korea. A similar event happened in Vietnam with two F-4s (Google Pardo's Push“)

I have no insight on whether it can be done in DCS.

I am not sure that F-14 front canopy is stronger than F-4 for pushing...

Can F-4 do the pushing in DCS? It is very questionable.  Maybe HB can answer the question.

I don't think DCS supports that, however I would very much appreciate if HB included some special code to recreate Pardo's push. 🙂 Currently, fireballs ensue anytime anything touches in the air. And yes, IRL two Sabres could also do this by sticking the tip of one jet's nose into the other's tailpipe.

What I found out some time ago: if you are curious about doing strange things in DCS, there is already a youtube Video from the "Grim Reapers". And guess what:

I only fool around the F-14 - and still having a hard time on it as there is so much to learn and so little time and talent. But I love it.

I'm pretty sure the external force from other aircraft is simply not modeled even if you could turn off damage model. Maybe one day.

Thanks chaps for the replies!

@draconus I am with you, it looks like that the external force is indeed not modelled, that gent in the GR-Video reported no speed change.

I feel so sorry for the 2 Beagles who got wasted by the attempt.

Cheers!

Each aircraft has a different size hit box so you really don't touch but you can see it happen and then bad things happen if you stay there to long haha. I did this recently and stuck my nose between the engines and watch the rear control surfaces freak out so I backed off. null
