SimonR944 Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Question - the release of Syria and SA both saw massive issues with game performance due to the fidelity of the maps. Has any development time gone in to ensuring this isn't a repeat of these releases? How will it differ to the other maps in terms of engine/coding etc? I'm excited for the map! but, very concerned if it's just going to can the map within the first release.... 3 1

Some see moderate improvements, some have seen huge improvements including on Syria or over giant cities like Cairo. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

The performance improvements have been great… but these maps have been out for some time just hoping Afghanistan isn’t going to be same… performance sucks for 4/6 months
Gunfreak Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Will be interesting to see, especially since Afghanistan is Apache country and the Apache is still the most demanding cockpit to fly in performance wise. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

Change your GPU. I went from 8Gb 1080 and 50 FPS at 4K, to 16 Gb 4070 Ti Super and 200 FPS at 4K, all with a lowly i7 9700K and 32 Gb 3466 MHz RAM. The 30xx cards are rubbish - so bad that at times they get worse performance than my 1080 did (which is why I skipped the 20xx and 30xx cards). Edited April 7, 2024 by Tiger-II Motorola 68000 | 1 Mb | Debug port "When performing a forced landing, fly the aircraft as far into the crash as possible." - Bob Hoover. The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts. "An average aircraft with a skilled pilot, will out-perform the superior aircraft with an average pilot."

Not really valid for me, since I fly VR and so flat FPS tells me little. I can fly with every single option on max in flat and crush the FPS. My 3090 has 24gig vram. And still doesn't change the fact Apache is the most demanding cockpit. 1 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Just wondering if this map not having the water/sea/ocean layer in the background, will improve its performance compare to others. 1 i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak

Wouldn't Nevada be the same? Or does it have the ocean layer in it's background?

The water being uderground has the same hit on performance as the lake on the other side of the map. No calculations and rendering is done if it's not visible surface.
