Overhaul F/A18C Textures + Damage Model

Recommended Posts

The module has been released for quite some time and the textures are starting to really show their age as well as the damage modeling. This issue has been highlighted numerous times on this forum, please consider improving the textures and the DM. It would add to the immersion if more things where modeled in depth and more system failures where possible.

+1 . The cockpit textures leave a lot to be desired.

Oh lord. We are talking about an update of a module before it is fully released/out of early acces. Not blaming the request btw but seeing the irony of the way things are nowadays.

Unsatisfied with the visuals of your Hornet?

Wanting an overall awesomification for your Hornet?

Depressed and sad because your A-10 demo trial phase is over but being a bit short on money so the Hornet is currently everything you have for Mavericks?

In this case it is probably time for a personal texture-set I made for myself last week, I call it "Hornethog" to honour the Warthog. It consists of a few parts from various mods I liked very much for example that awesome new canopy frame and sidepanels of cosmetic pack 3.0, the nice and clean knobs and switches from the Cleanpit mod, the seat came with some mod I have forgotten which one it was but it looks so awesome, and a lot of stuff I made with Photoshop from my Gun Metal Grey Cockpit.

Glorious gun metal grey, the sidepanels came from a mod I think called "Cosmetic pack 3".

It was a bit difficult to match the matte black colour gradient of the rear cockpit canopy frame and the front windshield fixed canopy frame, also these bolts had to be made a bit lighter in colour to match.

The only problem I encountered in the new cockpit...

But remember this is only a set of textures and therefore kinda limited and not an overhaul or remake of the cockpit. I would welcome and pay for a new Hornet V 2.0 upgrade to get the same absolute awesome photorealistic cockpit visuals and awesome animations (like wobbling flashlight cables etc.) all the brandnew modules like the Apache Hind and A-10 have, with a smile right on release day!! 🤩

I hope the Hornet will get the same visual treatment as the A-10 got in her V2.0 upgrade.

Same - would absolutely pay for a Hornet cockpit v2.0 refresh!

Good work on your textures by the way, they look nice. But yeah a more photorealistic look like the upcoming F4E would be amazing.

With Hornet out of Early Access, albeit without big announcment trialer teaser, I would welcome and even spend few bucks on its visual uplift to standards seen in F-4E & CH-47

This game has more serious issues than the FA18 textures. FA18 is fine at its current level. It's not a high priority. Of course it's low resolution.
But this game needs to fix its core gameplay and damage model and weird AI behavior.

Oh.. for a second you were part of ED team, it did not sound like it was your opinion and I had to read it three times.

Fortunately issues you mention are not related to this Hornet wish list thread and, while true and valid, can be ignored in this discussion.

The people that would fix core gameplay systems and AI are not the same people that work on models and textures

Hornet is STILL missing all engine damage models. You CANNOT have an engine failure/fire/damage/flameout of any kind. No decrease in performance, no nothing.

Are you talking about damage from weapons, or just period? Because last time I checked the rather long failures list in the ME includes engine related things.

I assume they mean engine damage (to individual or both engines) caused by weapons fire, which doesn't seem to be a thing. We only seem to get pretty much total avionics failures and fuel leaks (I think) as non-catastrophic damage from ground fire in the Hornet currently. Yes, we do have ME triggers for that kind of thing but not quite the same as being able to ponder whether to break off an attack or carry on with one good engine because you got a little greedy on your first pass.
