grim_reaper68 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 (edited) Hi I'm starting modding, but I encounter a strange pink light in my learning model. I checked for hidden object, but nothing. Does anyone have an idea from where it comes? Edited April 27, 2024 by grim_reaper68
Solution grim_reaper68 Posted April 27, 2024 Author Solution Posted April 27, 2024 Hi Don't ask me why, but when setting intensity_max to 0 for the landing and taxi light, those "ghost" spots disappears. Maybe someone from ED can explain me why? 1 1
TeTeT Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Thanks @grim_reaper68 for sharing here and on Discord! I changed the VWV F-8 setting and the light is gone when the AI launches as well: 1
Hawkeye60 Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Look in the main lua for the lights section Find any references to light color or type comment out any sections which may be suspect and try once more. The lights need a connector and arg, placed correctly on the model before export. This way, your lights will show where they belong. Hope this helps With a nod to @Urbi for sharing this info. 1 "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. grim_reaper68 Posted April 27, 2024 Author Posted April 27, 2024 I made several tests to come to this conclusion. I think, it comes effectively from the lua file. I used a lua file from the NH90 from Damien as an example. And now I just see that the M2000 or Mirage F1 haven't the intensity_max parameter in there files... As I am discovering the modding, I think I didn't took the most optimized example, but by the way it's good, so I discovered some strange behavior, and now I better understand those sections of the lua file. I'm glad that I could help TeTeT, and hopefully new modder too. 1
Oban Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Is there an idiots guide to setting up spot/landing lights anywhere? I too have the hideous purple light, tried the connectors, and the args, edited out the line's etc but still shows AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit
grim_reaper68 Posted June 20, 2024 Author Posted June 20, 2024 Hi are you working on 3DSmax or blender?
Oban Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Max ! I've watched skatez video's I've sussed out the Nav and strobes, but the landing/taxi lights... not so good. AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit
grim_reaper68 Posted June 21, 2024 Author Posted June 21, 2024 Can you share the lua file where the lights are in? So I can take a look. As said above, by setting the intensity_max = 0 in the lua file, the pink light disappear. You didn't tell me if you are using 3DSmax or blender for your mod. Here an example for the taxi light in 3DS The default argument used is 209 (208 for the landing light), as you can see it's a target spot. You have to set the color and the multiplier in directly in 3DS. Then setup tthe visibilty argument like that After what, you have to set the mulitplier, so your light lights up gradually. If you set the multiplier of the target spot to 2 for example, then you must start the curve at -2 (at step 0), and finish at 0 at the step 100. In my case, I set it up to 4.5 but it was to bright, so I ended it at -2.4.
Oban Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Grim, many thanks, just noticed this post now, will give this a try ... and then get back to you for more advice, help, but this goes a long way to helping for sure 1 AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit
