postc Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) Malwarebytes offered me a free 14 day trial. I installed it and apparently it is quarantining my F-15E. Malware.AI.4280553145, H:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-15E\bin\ARF.dll Also looks like it is blocking the license validation for DCS. Assumed it's a false positive. But took me a couple of minutes to figure out what is going on. Edited May 23, 2024 by postc
postc Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 Ok. Uninstalled malwarebytes still getting unusual behavior when starting dcs: null Investigating more. Maybe Windows defender?
draconus Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 If the file was quarantined you either have to restore it or do DCS repair. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Recluse Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) Same thing happened to me. I had to un-quarrantine the file and add the DCS top level folder to the EXCEPTIONS list. FYI the file is: null Edited May 23, 2024 by Recluse 1
postc Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 Thanks! I tried doing an "unquarantine" but that didn't fix the issues. I had to do a DCS repair. Everything seems to be working again.

timber29 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Just popped on my Norton scan as well. Funny how file was updated on 6/5/2024 but nothing listed in change log.

McFly29 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 This happened on my McAfee for my M2000C. I worked around it (after many hours running cleanups and reinstalls of the module etc alongside frustrating conversations with McAfee) by having the module uninstalled. I'd then delete the file from my main DCS folder. Turn off my AV scan. Re-download and install the module. Then I'd select the relevant problematic folders (dll files) and list them as not to be scanned when I turned back on my AV. This has solved all the problems so hopefully something similar can work for you.
Von Rondstadd Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) Hi all, I had the same problems. Uninstalled, reinstalled inside DCS World, closed virus scanner, did a cleanup restore/make an exception brrrr nothing worked. What worked for me is I installed inside tool DCS Updater GUI Utility. In one time installed It and is working again. Try It maybe It works for you also? Edited June 17, 2024 by Von Rondstadd

Today, I tried to update FC3, and it looked like it was finally installing, but then it stopped with a message from DCS that it couldn't move a file to the backup folder due to a Virus or PUP The file is Mods\aircraft\MiG-29\bin\MIG29CWS.DLL due to a virus or PUP, and I can not get rid of it. McAfee says it's a trojan, but Malwarebytes says it is fine. However, I can not remove it from my system. Hopefully, it's just a corrupt file but I thought I'd mention it Is anyone else having an issue? Off to find my Linux Boot CD.
