Sparrows disarm when turning master arm on

Im probably just being stupid so some help would be appreciated. Whenever I have sparrows selected and I turn the master arm on they de select and I can't get them back until I turn off the master arm.

The list of things I do:

A/A mode on sight

Radar on pinky switch

Lock target

Master arm on

Is there something I'm forgetting to do? All of this is on a full alignment

Are sure that you are locking up a target? And not a ghost target?

Having the same problem here.  I can get the sparrows working in the practice mission, but when I try in my own mission, the sparrows de-select when I turn on master arm.

Aim-9’s work fine.  I don’t get what I’m doing wrong?

Was having same issue myself, then noticed the sparrow heat switch or whatever its called was in Standby.

It's on the left of the sparrow interlock switch, need to be in the up position and the sparrows will be ready in 30sec or so.

Good call! Thank you sir, that was it!  I thought I was going crazy.  👍

The CW switch? Yes Continuous Wave guidance is needed for early Sparrows so that switch needs to be in the UP position.

It is in the manual. That's all Heatblur needed to do really and they did.

https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/procedures/aim_7.html

sure, but a training mission that supposedly teaches you how to use A/A missiles but doesn't mention this, or many other relevant things such as how to use the gun is well below normal Heatblur quality.  Love the module, certain training missions need work and more need to be included.  Why is there no training for Shrikes?  Why does the bombing mission only really teach about dive toss?  Why is there only 1 WSO training mission that basically just goes over some basic radar operation?  I felt the same with the F14.

I understand. I get it how they are valuable.
I recommend dabbing into the mission editor to keep from being dependable on standalone missions here and there. I don't miss them, but that's just me.

Bit of a fail on Heatblur's part there

There are tons of youtube guides on that exact subject that were uploaded before the Phantom even released so we could be prepared. Heatblur even pinged us on Discord every time one was uploaded...
Name a DCS YouTuber and they made a guide on how to do it.

I understand this and have been doing this, but for new players to DCS it’s a little disconcerting to go to the training section and still have no idea about some of the basics. The first thing I do when I get a module is to go through the training missions. I use the manual as needed but it shouldn’t be necessary for basic issues like how to turn on the CW switch etc. the A10 and the Harrier (now) are the. Only modules that really walk you through the aircraft. It’s one thing to read about it in a manual and another to actually get in cockpit and press buttons.

I posted this on other posts but I want to make it clear, after what feels like 15+ hours of simply trying A/A, I can say its bugged. without quetion.

Something is wrong with the lock procedures, and even if jester does lock you cannot shoot. BUG

Thank you for your report. Could you be a bit more detailed? Perhaps share a quick video or SP track file?

Most of the time people seem to be missing one or two steps and without more details it is difficult to investigate. Thank you 🙂
