Every once in a while I end up in a situation where my TADS is stuck slaved to the helmet. Ive tried sight selector switch to TADs but I cant control the TADs it still moves wherever I look. I cant figure out how Im getting into that situation where I cant get back to controlling the TADs on its own. Any ideas?

Is GHS your acquisition source?

I dont remember, but I did try cycling through all the options, none would allow me to sight select tads and have normal control of the tads.

Ah I think this might be a minor hidden system bug, this happened one time to me last week - no chance whatsoever to control the TADS, the sight was somehow permanently stuck and frozen to I think it read "C-HMD" or "CHMD" and there was no chance to go back to TADS, activate the regular manual TADS screen to move the crosshair around with the HOTAS. No matter which button I tried.

Restarting the flight solved the problem. And this small glitch occured only once in all these weeks I fly the Apache 🙂

Not sure, but could it be you forget to de-slave, by pressing the slave button, again?

Press and release Slave button > TADS is now slaved to the HMD (Sight) and follows where you look.

If you look at the correct place:

Press and release the Slave button, again > TADS stays on the point.

Now, select TADS as Sight with Sight-Select-Switch right (TADS), to control the TADS.

Sounds like my experience. However I had it happen a few times in the last week.

Ill keep this in mind next time.

My son has this problem sometimes, it can be several things but tends to either be that Acquisition source is set to fixed, or his controller has timed out and just inst accepting inputs.

If its Acquisition TSD > ACK > Set it to either PHS or GHS dependent upon where you are sitting.

Worth noting is that if you select your acquisition source to GHS in the TADS, and then switch to your HMD as sight, it can't set the acquisition source to itself, so it defaults to 'fixed', which remains when you switch back to another sight. This is true for switching to the the FCR with the FCR as your ACQ, as well.
