Hi,

Just a general question, after the last DCS update I noticed that I can no longer select a A-10 Patch for my Logbook screen. The only one that works is "Hogsmoke 2012" all other aircraft patches work fine. Has anyone else seen this? Can anyone help with some Ideas on what may be causing this? it's a little frustrating. I love my Hawg! I have attached my Troops USA.lua file for viewing. If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated!

I have noticed the same. Seems like ED have changed where this information is stored now.
If you clear all the entries in .\Scripts\Database\Troops\usa.lua apart from one, you will see that all the squadrons are still listed in DCS.

Have spent three hours looking thru files trying to find the new list.Nothing. Seems weird that if they went a different route they would leave the Troop files still in the program. Why change it?

Hi @Boomer25wa - did you get anywhere with this. Just noticed the same - my custom squadrons and patches are still in their respective folders - but not being picked up by the logbook?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Anyone figure this out yet? USN stuff won't work anymore. Back to Colonels flying Hornets.

Just to expand this a bit - this is not just on the A10/USA - also have issues with other countries.

In my UK folder I have all UK Army, RN and RAF squadrons (courtesy of @dreamingbadger - Additional UK Squadrons for Logbook) and same issue persists.

So the lua file details all the squadrons in the correct format, but logbook only details the basic RAF squadrons. Thing is - if I edit the original lua and make some cosmetic changes to the spelling the logbook still picks up the original basic squadrons - so where are they being pulled in from? It still links to the png images though - and if I change a squadron badge (but name it as an existing sqn) this pulls through and is displayed.

Apologies @Flappie, so if I add in a custom lua to replace the stock one as per my attached which includes not only the stock squadrons but all other UK Aviation squadrons - the logbook still only shows the basic squadrons in the logbook that your image shows.

If I edit the basic lua you have shown, and say change 'troop' in one of the lines to 'squadron' - that squadron still displays in the logbook - even though the command line is incorrect - so is pulling in the squadrons from somewhere other than that lua?

If i drop a different png into the 'MissionEditor\data\images\Countries\UK\Troops' location but named the same - so basically say replace the 11sq png with a different image but keep it named 11sq - the new image is reflected in the logbook - so that relationship appears correct - but the logbook for whatever reason isn't pulling in the additional squadrons.

The A-10 patches got fixed with today's update.

But custom logbooks still broken? Apologies but 4 RAF Sqns and 1 Flying School Sqn for the UK doesn't cut it (especially when compared to the USA - lost count!) - hence the need to be able to add our own squadrons and replicate all UKs aviation squadrons in the logbook.

I need to test this.

Where shall I put the custom .lua? In the Saved Games folder or in the core game files?

@Flappie, the custom .lua goes into:

Drive:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts\Database\Troops

Any squadron patches go into Drive:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\MissionEditor\data\images\Countries\UK\Troops

I have downloaded this: Additional UK Squadrons for Logbook - and used OvGME to install. It did work fine - then didn't. I have previously added the files manually and they have shown up no problems.

I have tried editing the existing file, to no effect. In addition - if I delete the lua, the correct squadrons still show - indicating the squadron details are now being drawn from elsewhere? If, however I change the image but keep the same file name for the squadron badge - it displays the new image - so the relationship between the squadron lua and the image folder appears correct.

Sidenote - you did get me thinking though and created copies in the saved game folders - no joy.

Hi @Flappie.  Any joy with this? I see it has been tagged as fixed - do I need to post again detailing logbook issue under its own title?

Hi. Yes, the issue described in the OP was fixed, hence the tag.

But I was able to reproduce your issue and I will ask the team about it, no need for a new thread. Do you have an idea of when logboook modding ceased to work?

TBH I'm not sure when it broke. Only thing I can think of is an update back in May last year - as that appears to be when the files in the 'Troops' folders were updated - unless that date is the last time I did a fresh install - but I think I did one more recently than that after the announcement that the beta and stable versions would be merged.

Considering my post here was dated August 28th 2024, I reckon 2.9.7.59263 or 2.9.7.58923.

Do you think this was the same time the pilot skins got broken?  If I use a UK AAC livery, which had the AAC eagle and tactical flash on the arms - they are now overwritten with 101st AB patches?

I have no idea. I never played around with pilot skins myself really.

Hi @Flappie any joy with the above or is it worth reporting in a separate thread - as still broken. Now we have the cold war map more UK units are definitely a must...the 5 RAF squadrons just don't cut it.
