Hi,

The brand new Kiowa seems great. I watched a lot of videos, tutos, etc. and I wonder : Do the switches have "click" sound ?

For me, it's a nogo. I want to hear sound when I activate a switch even if in a flying chopper or plane, one hears very few, one hears any how a nice "click".

So, can someone answer please ?

Cheers

Most do, but you won't hear them with helmet on or when engines on - they're just too quiet.

I changed the option.lua (or similar) a long time ago to be able to push the cockpit button noises to 1200 (default max is 300). Mainly because of the Afterburner detents. But it helps with all clicky clicky noises. Has been on 1200 ever since. Love it!

I don't find that option.lua..

would be nice to add the option to raise the sound of switches as they are totally muted.

I agree that no switch sounds (or very muted) is realistic, but we're missing the haptic feedback the real pilot has.  I'd like a option to have them be obviously loud, but certainly not a make or break item for me.

That said - the switches in the KW are still quieter than in a F-16 e.g. .... but when you try them in a cold and dark AC, you can still very clearly hear them.

but that change will modify the volume of every switch in the rest of aircrafts? if so, I think that is not a good solution unless we are changing constantly depending on use.

Every „switch-like“ sound is effected. Like afterburner detents in some aircraft for example. But don’t get fooled by the high „1200“ value. It doesn’t make switched sound like church bells. It just makes the clicky clicky a bit more audible over the engine and rotor noises.

If I didn’t tell you, and you would just watching me playing, you probably wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow over it.

Thanks! That's great. I'm a fool lover of those clicky clicky and as I generally play one bird for severals weeks, it doesn't matter if I have to change the settings.

Cheers!

Was never aware of that “switches” setting and the possibility to "overrev" it - nice!
Just out of curiosity: You cranked up "switches" and at the same time opted for "hear in helmet" which dampens the sound. I guess the more high-pitched click sounds are not effected by "hear in helmet" too much?

Honestly I just didn’t overthink it so much. My main gripe back then was the barely audible afterburner detent in the F-16. Other than the „realism-fanatics“ I think that sound is an adequate replacement for missing haptic feedback, and since my throttle doesn’t have a physical detent, that was important to me.

Hear like in helmet on the other hand is a) realistic (😆) and b) saves you from hearing damage when you play with headphones….. 😅

Then you should love the Hip! 😁 (as I do 💖)

In professional static driving simulators (car and truck industry) increased sound volume is used to compensate shortcomings of the simulator. There is even an expression for that kind of exaggeration, it’s called “creating surrogates for missing sensory impressions”. So it doesn’t seem there is anything wrong with cranking up sounds in a simulation if that helps for the immersion or usability. But perhaps these “realism-fanatics” are just smarter than those industry jerks, who knows? 😁

I am going to chip in with this as well, the sounds in cockpit are crazily quiet....its got no doors for christ sake, yet you can barely hear anything.....No one complains that the sounds are too loud in the Apache....and they are spot on there, you get a nice solid click or thunk when operating switches and in this, you can hardly hear a thing. Please polychop, make this an option for louder sounds _ I cant believe the majority of people will think its Ok as is.......
