F1EE Instant Full Alignment

Hello! I'm wondering if there's a setting or shortcut to "skip" the full 8 minute alignment? That is a very long time to wait around when just wanting to hop in for a quick mission in the evening while only having 30 mins before bed. I know some of the other modules have this feature for single player (like the harrier) as it's very helpful.

I know there's a "quick" alignment but it's not a very good one and "drifts" away very quickly. I'm looking for just a way to speed up or have an instant full alignment (for accurate navigation) for us folks that only have a short time to play but want to do a full cold and dark mission.

Is this possible? 🤞🙏

As far as I know, the fastest method is "ALCM", a stored heading alignment (must be set in the editor for the mission, afaik). This takes about 90 seconds.

If you want a full alignment, the only option is a hot start or a cold start with the full 8 minute alignment.

i couldn't tell if the store heading alignment was as accurate as the full alignment. i don't want my ins drifting heavily during a mission, i could get lost

The stored heading alignment is precise. The only drawback is having to set it in the mission editor.

ah it's not a setting in Special category like other planes?

Yes it is.

That option just ensures your starting coordinates match the coordinates of waypoint 1 (starting waypoint).  I believe an alignment is still required.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.

Alignment is still required but that option in the ME allows you to do the stored alignment which takes about a minute and a half.

i mean in the Special menu in main menu settings, that's where other planes have this setting, yes? What you're showing me is in mission editor. Are they one and the same?

Hi, we decided that it is something better left to the mission creator to decide.

ok thanks for clarification. is this feature on or off by default?

It's set to yes by default so mission creators don't force a full alignment by omission, rather only intentionally.

ok great that's what I was hoping to hear. won't have to edit most missions now

I think it’s a mistake having the option to force full alignment in ME. That should be up to the pilot.

Without that option, you could include ALCM into the Auto-Start process. It’s not enjoyable nor a good investment of playtime sitting through a full alignment for a short flight.

At least in your opinion 😉

just press CTRL+Z (US keyboard) multiple times, so you can shorten the alignement time 😉

And press SHIFT+Z to return to normal time of course.

Please try that on a multiplayer server 😉
