I've been playing since DCS: Black Shark, which I got on a Steam sale in 2012, I believe. Then just got DCS World when I found out I could fly the KA-50 AND the A-10 in the same mission. Hawkeye60 Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 My Passion began way back in Apple IIe days with sub logic! Bought every flight sim that was released since! Bought many awful ones as well LOL Anyone remember Back to Baghdad? Began DCS back in 2015 in ernest DVDs BS, A-10 which I also still have From FC onward have never looked back Good thing I did not keep track of all the money spent over the years....... Could have retired at 50! Once you go into DCS, There is no turning back! "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."
Sacarino111 Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 HI. Me also started with the SU27, of course on CD, and followed the same path as the OP did. First BS and later on A10C, FC 3, and the rest is history... Saludos. Saca111
=DROOPY= Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 I'm fairly new to DCS as well but not new to flying simulation. I use the term 'flight simulation' loosely, because up until about 2019, I was using 'Ace Combat' to fill the void. And as we all know, it leaves a lot to be desired in the 'simulation' department. In 2017(?), while working as aircraft fueler at a FBO, a colleague introduced me to DCS by bringing his entire rig to work, tower, monitor, and VR.. the whole thing....and set me up for my first VR flight in the Viper. I was literally speechless. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to be able to play DCS, and up until Feb/March of this year, I used a 1080p monitor, and a second hand tower with a Nvidia 970(?). When ED pushed out 2.8, I was done. My rig no longer had the power to run it in 2D. Up until last year, I was unable to budget for a rig capable of playing DCS in VR, and doing it well. Now I have a decent running cracker box that should get me through for the next couple of years.
